Call of Duty 4 Officially Official for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

Although they had already confirmed the game's existence via a sweet teaser trailer, Activision and Infinity Ward revealed Friday afternoon the specific platforms Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is in development for.

Sorry Wii fans, but it looks like you're being left out of this battle. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is strictly a true next-gen only effort, in development for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The Wii's lack of horsepower of course probably has a lot to do with its absence here. It would be a lot of work to port over the art assets for the title to the weaker Wii, which may not be justified this time around when there's no PS2 version to share the assets and cost of development with.

Sequel to SEGA's gritty survival horror game confirmed for Xbox ...

Sega has confirmed the development of Condemned 2: Bloodshot the next chapter in the terrifying series that began with the award-winning and critically-acclaimed Condemned. Featuring an all-new fighting mechanic and online multiplayer functionality, Condemned 2: Bloodshot is a first-person action thriller which immerses players in a world of psychological terror. Following a string of gruesome murders, players must use their deductive skills and brute force to track down sadistic serial killers. Developed by the renowned Monolith Productions, creators of the original Condemned, Condemned 2: Bloodshot is due for release across Europe in early 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. Players will assume the identity of Ethan Thomas, the former Serial Crimes Unit investigator, who's been called back to duty to track down his missing partner.

Hour of Victory Demo Goes 'Live' Next Week

Shipping this June, Midway's Hour of Victory enters into a genre with plenty of entrenched enemy forces -- Call of Duty, Medal of Honor -- making the game a bit of a tough sell. The publisher should be (if it's not already) hoping that the demo it's releasing on Xbox Live next week helps secure some fans. Unfortunately, early word on it isn't sounding all that great, but you guys will be able to judge for yourselves soon.

According to Midway, the demo is coming sometime next week, but no date is specified. The single-player demo shows off the North African level and offers three ways to play it: as the "covert operative" who prefers stealth to flashy entrances; the Army Ranger who can "snipe from afar;" or the British Commando who'll "storm the gates."

Hour of Victory will be the first WII game on shelves utilizing the Unreal 3 Engine.

Activision detail Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Having some weeks ago unleashed a trailer of their fourth Call of Duty offering on television and via the web, Activision have this week let loose the first initial details on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 action title, which sees the series depart the WWII setting and firmly enter the modern age of warfare (as the title so unsubtly indicates).

Infinity Ward are promising a game brimming with the latest and most authentic battlefield technologies, and there will also been the option to call in air and ground strikes. As part of a plotline only slightly detached from reality, Warlord Zakhaev has stirred conflict in a fictional and unnamed middle-eastern country, while he attempts to further his influence in Russia. You'll be among the first western units entering the war-torn country and the plot is set to explode from this point onwards.

Halo 3 landing in UK on 26 September

Bungie Studios has revealed that Halo 3 will arrive nearly two months ahead of its anticipated mid-November launch. The Xbox 360-exclusive shooter will ship on 25 September in North America and Australia, and will ship in Europe the following day.

The game has not yet been given an age rating, but is available in three different retail packages: the standard edition, the limited edition, and the 'Legendary Edition' complete with a replica of the protagonist Master Chief's helmet. UK prices have not yet been announced.

After a light summer of games this year, the release schedule will grow very crowded come autumn. The packed calendar is topped by Grand Theft Auto IV, due on 15 October, and Metal Gear Solid 4, which has no firm release date, and Halo 3. The third instalment in Bungie's sci-fi shooter was given a 2007 release at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Shadowrun Ships for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista

Time to teleport, glide and summon your minions! Microsoft Game Studios is launching Shadowrun onto retailers across North America.

Starting today, humans, elves, dwarves and trolls can join the cross-platform revolution with Shadowrun at the estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $49.99 (U.S.) for Windows Vista. Shadowrun is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). Shadowrun is also part of the Games for Windows initiative, offering reliability, compatibility and enhanced experiences on Windows Vista.

Additionally, Xbox 360 gamers can get in on the action with the official Shadowrun demo on June 6. The demo will be available for download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The innovative first-person shooter (FPS) gameplay of Shadowrun, developed by FASA Studio, thrusts gamers into strategic battles that utilize magic and technology.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition Released

Activision has announced the release of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - Gold Edition for Xbox 360, a remastered version of the game which expands the games roster with eight new playable characters including The Incredible Hulk, Magneto, Hawkeye, Sabretooth, Doctor Doom, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Venom - previously only available via Xbox Live. Each new character features new signature powers, skins, dialog, conversations and achievement points, offering players a new gaming experience within the Marvel Universe.
