Dead or Alive 4 delayed in Japan

Another setback today for the ever-looming Xbox 360 launch in Japan on December 10th, with the news that Dead or Alive 4, one of the system's key home grown launch titles, has been delayed by a week and will no longer be available on day one. Hardly a major blow, a week is only a week, but nonetheless an irritation for Redmond who have already witnessed several key delays in this region so crucial to the console's success. Around the December 17th mark it is, then, with IGN revealing that the title is now 95% ready to go and is being polished by Tecmo.

Whilst the Xbox 360 launches in Europe on Friday (with severe stock shortages already forecast), Dead or Alive 4 won't be ready for the continent until January. The Japanese day one line-up now consists of: Ridge Racer 6, Every Party, Perfect Dark Zero, FIFA 06, Tetris Grandmaster and Need for Speed Most Wanted.

Dead or Alive 10th Anniversary, DOA 5 In the Works

Tomonobu Itagaki, Tecmos head of Team Ninja and creator of the Dead or Alive series, has revealed at the At the Dead or Alive 10th Anniversary party that he's already working on Dead or Alive 5. "I've already started writing the basics for DOA5." Itagaki commented. "I cannot talk about it but the opening scene has already be determined in my head." Released on November of 1996 utilizing Sega's Model 2 arcade board, the original Dead or Alive fighting game pushed the hardware to its limits. The game was later ported to the Sega Saturn in Japan in 1997. In 2004, Tecmo released an enhanced edition of the Saturn version as part of Dead or Alive Ultimate. .

01:13 Review: Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (0)

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 is a rare example of when a game knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to do anything past that. This game knows that it's nothing more than blatant fan-service, and it embraces that. About 5 seconds into the opening video, you know exactly what you're in for as your screen is completely filled by a pair of boobs. The game is a lot more comfortable with what it is than its predecessor, as anyone who saw the pole dancing in the trailer can attest to. The question is, does the game have anything to offer other than a bouncing pair of breasts?

Gameplay The Gameplay in DOAX2 is pitiful. Somehow, I actually think that the volleyball gameplay got worse from the first game. The partner AI got better and is a nice improvement, but the controls seem a little sluggish this time around.
