'LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga' Coming From LucasArts

LucasArts today formally announced 'LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga' will available this Fall on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next-gen consoles, as well as Nintendo's Wii and DS.

In merging the first two LEGO Star Wars games, LucasArts and developer TT Games is expanding the improved gameplay such as drop-in and out co-op found on the second game to the first, as well as adding several new missions including chasing bounty hunter Zam Wessell from Episode II for a total of 36 missions. In addition, characters from the prequel trilogy will be mixed with those from original trilogy for a whopping 160 in all.

We'll have additional details and screens for 'LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga' in the weeks ahead.

Retail Radar: Lego Star Wars for Wii and PS3

With Lego Star Wars and its sequel already having tackled toy-themed games of the original Star Wars trilogy and its prequel films, there's nothing left for the franchise to do but move on, applying the same to other popular property. Take Batman, for instance.

But as the wizened Muppet Jedi master Yoda might say, "No. There is another." At least, there might be another, if new product listings on CD Universe are accurate. The retail Web site has listings up for Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga on four platforms: PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS, each with an expected November 8 release date. The same four listings have also turned up in Wal-Mart's internal database of product codes.

Judging from the name, it doesn't take a huge leap of logic to suggest these are compilation titles that include both the original Lego Star Wars as well as last year's Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

LEGO Star Wars completes the saga

LucasArts and TT Games on Wednesday announced 'LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga', which enables gamers to play through the events of all six 'Star Wars' movies on the Wii, PlayStation3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS.

According to the NPD Group, domestic sales of the two 'LEGO Star Wars' videogame releases reached nearly 7 million units through March 2007, and 'LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy' was the No. 3 best-selling title of 2006.

From the Trade Federation's "negotiations" with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace to the space battle above Endor in Return of the Jedi, 'The Complete Saga' allows players to kick some brick through 36 Story Mode levels, including Episode II's newly added high-speed pursuit of bounty hunter Zam Wessell.

Lego Star Wars returns

LucasArts is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Star Wars at the moment and has just announced Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. The game takes the content of the previous two games and puts it together into one game for Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and an entirely new DS version.

The full game features 36 Story Mode levels, with those from the original Lego Star Wars being revamped to match gameplay elements of the sequel. Meanwhile 160 classic and prequel trilogy characters can be mixed and matched.

"As we usher in the next generation of videogame consoles, LucasArts is leading the way in family entertainment," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "Were proud of the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars II and how it delivered all the fun, humour and action of the Original Trilogy to the entire family.

LEGO Star Wars (and More) Headed to Wii

When Nintendo revealed the Wii, there was no doubt that many people were shocked by it. While in its last generation, the GameCube could really hold its own in the graphics department, the focus was changed for Nintendo’s latest. Instead of graphics, the Big N explained, the focus should be on gameplay. And, while many people may still scoff at that idea, those of you still unconvinced need look no further than the surprise success of the LEGO Star Wars franchise, which is comprised of two very fun games whose only real improvement on the Xbox 360 happened to be really shiny floors.

All in all, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy exemplify what the Nintendo Wii stands for, which really makes this news even better: According to Nintendo-specific site Codename Revolution, both LEGO Star Wars games are headed to the Nintendo Wii, complete with controls reinvented specifically for the Wii Remote (which, really, shouldn’t be too hard, as the game only used like two buttons).
