14:21 Super Smash Bros. official site debuts in 7 days (0)

Numerous Internet sources are reporting that the official website for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Nintendo Wii will go live in seven days, hopefully revealing more details about a title Nintendo has kept firmly under wraps for so long.

Originally planned as a released title for Nintendo's newest home console, little has so far been revealed about one of the on, other than an official trailer that debuted at the now-defunct E3 2006 very nearly a year ago.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of the Wii's most anticipated titles, and is set to feature many of Nintendo's most recognisable characters: Super Mario, Fox McCloud, Kirby and Link amongst others will battle it out together. In addition, Konami's Solid Snake, the protagonist in the Metal Gear Solid franchise appeared in the E3 trailer, meaning that his inclusion is also very likely.

Mario Galaxy, Phantom Hourglass & Smash Bros. Coming In 2007

Reggie makes a lot of promises. Before the Nintendo Wii was released, he promised Nintendo had learned from their past mistakes and he promised there would be no drought of Wii games. And now we're experiencing a drought. Then he promised that Nintendo would up the production of Nintendo Wiis so they'd be available in stores. Nintendo Wiis are still hard to find in stores.

Now Reggie is making another promise. During Nintendo's media summit, Reggie promised that Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Super Smash Bros. Brawl would all come out before the end of the year. As much as I would love to believe Reggie, his track record of promising things and those promises coming into fruition are really poor.

If these promises do come true, it could be a great year for Nintendo Wii owners now that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will be released this summer.

Paper Mario Headed to Wii Virtual Console

With games like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption not due out until later this summer, and others such as Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl floating in a sort of release limbo, Super Paper Mario stands as perhaps the only decent Wii release in months for many gamers...at least those who were able to pry one from the dead fingers of their fellow shoppers.

However, Super Paper Mario is actually the third entry in a once-RPG series that started way back on the Nintendo 64 (with Paper Mario) and continued on the GameCube (with Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door). For those of you who've never enjoyed the original, though, Nintendo is giving you another chance.

If CVG, a computer and video gaming site apparently, is to be believed, than the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Nintendo’s official magazine here in the U.S., reveals that the original Paper Mario is headed to the Wii’s Virtual Console.

Official Super Smash Bros. Brawl site live

The official site for the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl is live! The website has displayed a countdown timer for the past seven days but now the waiting is over and Masahiro Sakurai (Sora Ltd) promises to deliver personal, straight-from-the-creator reports on the project, with daily weekday updates.

The site features seven categories: characters; how to play; game modes; stages; items; music; and notices. Sadly, only three categories are unlocked so far so Super Smash Bros. fans can only learn more about how to play, stages and music for the time being. An official launch date has yet to be announced with the site merely stating that the game is planned for 2007 release.

Smash 101

Gamers can watch two movies on the site, the E3 movie from May 2006 and the Nintendo World Movie from November 2006.

New Super Smash Bros. Brawl item revealed - Gooey Bomb

The official website for Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl was updated today with the first look at one of the (presumably many) new items we can expect to find in the anticipated Wii game. It's called the Gooey Bomb. As the name would suggest, it's meant for sticking to things. It will stick to most objects, including other players. But, all is not lost if you get stuck with it - the Gooey Bomb may be transferred to other players if you happen to brush by them. Here are some pictures of the bomb in action: .
