Ahead of its 2007 Q1 financial update tomorrow, Asda has stated that it is to embark upon a fresh price war against its supermarket rivals, and aggressive discounting on Xbox 360 software appears to be leading the way.A story in yesterday’s The Sunday Times quotes Asda boss Andy Bond as saying that with the public feeling the pinch as the result of recent interest rate rises, it is more important that ever to keep prices low.Asda Online is currently offering a number of Xbox 360 titles at just £12.97, including Kameo, Prey and Gun. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam heads to PS3 and 360

Namco and KOEI have announced that they will co-publish Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, set to come out late this summer for PS3 and Xbox 360. "This partnership extends far beyond the title's development and encompasses all disciplines" said Makoto Iwai, Executive VP and COO of NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. DWG is said to have fast-paced combat, with high def graphics and awesome areas to explore. DWG will have a wide range of mobile suits, as well as many different modes of game play. KOEI’s renowned Omega Force development team created DWG to take gamers through an interstellar battle where their only hope is to annihilate ALL the enemies. Gamers will be able to envelope themselves in the rich, multi-universe of Gundam and fight in the excessive amount of enemy’s style of Dynasty Warriors.

Dynasty Warriors mated with Gundam

Namco Bandai and Koei will co-publish Dynasty Warriors Gundam on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game combines the hack and slash gameplay of the DW franchise with the mech warfare elements of Gundam.

"Dynasty Warriors:Gundam is the result of a monumental collaboration between two great companies. This partnership extends far beyond the title's development and encompasses all disciplines, including marketing, sales, and promotions in order to bring this unique title to North America," said Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO, Namco Bandai Games America. "Featuring interstellar environments and unmatched warrior battles, gamers will understand why Dynasty Warriors:Gundam is the must-have game for the fall."

Dynasty Warriors Gundam is in development at Koei's Omega Force development team.

Ninja Gaiden, TMNT II hitting the Wii VC

Once again, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) spills the beans on the upcoming video game titles. This time it is about some retro games that will soon hit Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. The games in question are, Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden and Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game.

Ninja Gaiden was first released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was known as Shadow Warriors in Europe and Australia. A Nintendo DS version known as Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is also being developed. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game was also launched in 1989 and was later ported to the NES and the Atari ST in 1991. A newer version of the game was released some time back on the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA).

Though the games are listed on the ESRB list, it does not necessarily mean they will be released.

Genki making Kengo Zero for 360

Majesco has announced Kengo Zero for the Xbox 360. Developed by Genki and scheduled for a Spring release, Kengo Zero sets players in feudal Japan on a mission to become the best samurai warrior in the land.

In feudal Japan, it was kill or be killed for the samurai. Kengo Zero lets players battle as one of nine famous samurai warriors while mastering expert techniques to gain an advantage over their foes. Become a Kengo Master as you fight your way through lush, high-definition Japanese environments.

"Kengo Zero's stunning high definition graphics bring the game's nine real samurai to life," said John Merchant, Marketing Manager, Majesco Europe. "With its two-player head-to-head mode, attribute upgrades and fighter customisation, Kengo Zero gives every player the opportunity to be the fighter they [sic] want to be and to test their [sic] metal against the very best."

Kengo Zero features nine real samurai warriors: Musashi Miyamoto, Jubei Yagyu and Sanako Chiba, among others.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (Xbox 360/PS3) Coming to North America

Namco Bandai and Koei announced today that the two companies will co-publish Dynasty Warriors: Gundam for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer.

Developed by Koei's Omega Force team (responsible for previous Dynasty Warriors titles), Dynasty Warriors: Gundam will present the Gundam universe in the "against all odds" style previous Dynasty Warriors titles have utilized so effectively. Hopefully the change in scenery will invigorate the gameplay as well, which has grown stale in recent Dynasty Warriors entries. Players will engage in fast-paced futuristic Mobile Suit combat, fighting either on the side of the rebel space colonies in their fight for independence, or for Earth itself as the defenders. In this war long-range sensors and communications have been rendered useless, and thus the battlefield belongs to the agile and heavily armored Mobile Suits.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam getting PS3 release in late summer

Another Dynasty Warriors game is coming our way for the PS3 and Xbox 360. If you're a fan of mech action, then you'll be pleased to hear that this latest addition to the series takes the action into the shiny world of Gundam. The imaginatively titled Dynasty Warriors: Gundam is due for release in late summer, 2007.

The Dynasty Warriors series said goodbye to innovation quite some time ago, with each successive instalment offering a set of tweaks and new levels, but not much more. That's not to say that it wasn't a good laugh: single handedly destroying armies with combo chains well into the three figures was definitely amusing, but not always that deep an experience. I hope the Gundam license offers more than a re-skinning of an old franchise. Makes me wonder if we'll ever see that superb mech series Zone of Enders on PS3.
