Murder on the Orient Express: The Game

Not sure exactly how this happened but after attending a Pre-CES press event this week, I mysteriously found myself among a group of very oddly dressed people. Looking like they haven't updated their wardrobe since the 1930s, they all kept trying to chat me up, dropping eyebrow-raising hints and shady innuendos about the other people in the room. One cigar-chomping guy in a shark suit even brandished his heater, er, I mean hand gun at me during one conversation. Dangerous folks these!

Ah wait, it's all coming back now. I was at the launch party for the Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express PC game. That makes sense. Put out by the Adventure Company, this new title is an adaptation of the classic novel (of the same name) by Agatha Christie wherein you must solve a who-done-it while aboard a luxurious 30's era locomotive.

Moral of the story: Packers need a real victory

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- As first-time head coaches taking over downtrodden teams, little was expected of the New York Jets' Eric Mangini and the Green Bay Packers' Mike McCarthy this season.

Before they got down to the business of leading their teams to some sort of epic turnaround, both men had to learn the nuts and bolts of being a head coach -- like picking what type of charter plane the team should use, or deciding what time the team bus should leave the hotel each week. With several prominent young players learning on the fly along with their head coaches, the Jets (6-5) and the Packers (4-7) both have had up-and-down seasons going into their game today at Lambeau Field.

The difference: Mangini already has what some might call his ''signature victory'' at New England three weeks ago.

Oh, just get a Second Life!

As soon as MySpace.com and YouTube.com made the passage from viral upstarts to new-media establishment, the hunt for the next big thing went into hyper-drive.

It took tech writers and bloggers about seven minutes to crown an aspirant to the Online Hottie Throne -- Second Life (second life.com), the online virtual-world video game.

Words: GamesRadar

Final Fantasy V Advance has only been out for two weeks in the US, but Japanese are just about to get their hands on the sequel. Final Fantasy VI Advance is a remake of the 1994 classic - and like all of the other GBA FF remakes, contains a fair bit of improvement. Destructoid has gathered together some screens that show two of the game's most notorious characters - General Leo and Emeperor Gestahl - as playable party members. If you're a fan of the game, that means a lot; if you're not, it's not going to make a difference. That's kind of how these things are.

New summons and bosses are also on offer (check the comments to the story for a handy link showing some of the bonus content the original Destructoid post left out.) We haven't gotten a full confirmation on this stuff yet, and the game isn't quite out in Japan, so we'll have to wait and see.
