EA announces 30 games in development for PS3

Straight out of Redwood, California, EA announced today that it has more than thirty games in development for the Playstation 3. When the system launches next month, EA will be bringing some of the world's most popular franchises to the system including Madden NFL 07, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 and Need for Speed Carbon. EA will release eight games by March of next year including Fight Night Round 3 and Def Jam: Icon, one of the games we reported on yesterday. Paul Lee, President of EA Studios commented on the launch of the Playstation 3, Each game has been custom designed to leverage the hardware power of the Playstation 3 and serve as a launch pad for EAs next generation of HD gaming. This is only the beginning. In the months and years to come, developers will take greater advantage of the Playstation 3s Cell processor and blu-ray storage capacity to create games of stunning depth and texture.

PlayStation 3 Info, Launch Releases, and upcoming Cheats

The PlayStation 3 is Sony's newest effort to their highly successful line of PlayStation consoles. The third generation of PlayStation will be released in the United States on November 17, 2006, although it appears that initial quantities will be quite limited. Oddly enough, after stating that they were prepared for a word wide launch, Sony switched the European PS3 release date to March of 2007. Perhaps this is due to Microsoft's somewhat botched launch of the Xbox 360, a direct competitor of the upcoming PS3 unit, along with the Nintendo Wii.

Sony has stated that the PlayStation 3 console will be backwards compatible with all previously released PS One and PS2 video games. The PS3 will come in two flavors, the biggest difference of the two will be the size of the hard drive. The PS3 Basic will have a 20 gig hard drive and the PS3 Premium will have a 60 gig hard drive.

Record Breaking $2 Million Jackpot Up for Grabs in First Ever ...

CASHOLA, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Ca$hola, the first ever multi-state progressive video lottery game to be offered among U.S. states, has reached a record breaking jackpot of over $2 million and will continue to grow until won. Sales of the popular game began in July at venues located in the video lottery states of Delaware, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. Ca$hola features a shared prize pool that creates the progressive jackpot game that can be won by players in all three states.

Ca$hola is the first game to tie together video lottery terminals (VLT's) from different manufacturers and different central computer systems located in different jurisdictions. While each of the three participating states have operated progressive jackpot games at a single location and also at multiple locations within their respective jurisdictions, the $2 million jackpot is the largest ever offered in these jurisdictions.

Postal III In The Works

A game based on scandal will also have a sequel waiting to enter development, and the Postal series are no exception to this rule. Running With Scissors announced that the third Postal title will arrive in 2008 on both PC and Xbox 360. The game would be produced in conjunction with developer/publisher Akella.

RWS adds that the upcoming game will be using Valve's Source Engine, which has recently become available on Xbox 360. "We started this series back in 1997, and while the franchise has grown into an international computer game sensation during that time, it has always been our goal to bring it to the videogame console marketplace. For many years I've been asked by gamers around the world when POSTAL will appear on console. I'm so proud to be able to answer our fans' prayers." (Vince Desi, RWS CEO)As usual, Postal Dude (the main character) will act only "as violent as the player wants it to be" claims Desi, because "we've always maintained [this policy] since publishing the original Postal".

100GB hard drive for Xbox 360 on the way

When the original Xbox came out, Microsoft's decision to include a hard drive was considered groundbreaking. Previously, it was considered good enough to save game data (such as save games) on small-capacity memory cards, but Microsoft's later integration of the Xbox Live online service added all sorts of extra goodies to put on the hard drive, such as game demos and replays. With the Xbox 360, Microsoft decided to put only a 20GB hard drive in the high-end sku, and none at all in the Core system, leaving some to wonder if Sony would gain the edge with the PS3's 20GB and 60GB standard models. Now, according to a corporate presentation on new 360 peripherals in Korea, Microsoft is planning on delivering a 100GB hard drive add-on for the 360.

The peripheral is enclosed in a sleek, curved shell that plugs directly into the 360.

Review: Xbox Live Unplugged Vol 1

Xbox 360: You've got your Xbox 360 and some games for it, but you'd really like to try out these arcade games on Xbox Live Arcade you've heard so much about – but you don't have Broadband internet to download them. What do you do?

You could go round to a mate's house, he's got Broadband , or you could get a copy of Xbox Live Unplugged Volume 1 a compilation of some of Live's arcade games, all on one handy, dandy DVD.

The games are Geometry Wars, Retro Evolved, sort of like asteroids on acid; platformers Wik: Fable of Souls; Outpost Kaloki X, a city builder set in space. Thing Tycoon in space; Bejewelled 2 Deluxe, a puzzle game where you have to form combinations with jewels; Hardwood Backgammon; and Texas Hold 'em, a poker game that is also compatible with the Xbox Live Vision camera which is coming out this month.

Two Million Questions: Poker Responds

It's been about two weeks since we released our first three articles on the two million extra chips introduced into the 2006 WSOP Main Event. We have gotten feedback from a lot of different segments of the poker community and we thought, in order to further the conversation, we would share what we have been hearing. First, it seems only appropriate to report what we have heard from Harrah's. WSOP Director of Communications Gary Thompson sent PokerNews a brief official response to the articles: "We are taking this matter very seriously and are conducting an internal investigation. As soon as that investigation is complete, we'll have more .

Tony Hawk's Project 8 Preview

Tony Hawk. The guy has likely become as well known in the video game world as he has in the skateboarding world, thanks to Neversoft's bestselling yearly skateboarding series. Unfortunately for many long time fans of the series, this one included, the games have gotten a bit off track over the years as, presumably, Neversoft has attempted to find new ways to keep the series from getting stale. Now, the studio is using the current console generation change as a way to reevaluate the franchise and, in many ways, take a few steps back. Tony Hawk's Project 8, currently in the works for PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PSP, is something of a return to the series' roots of focusing on tricks and skating rather than a continually more overblown cast of characters and mission lineup.
