New Scarface Video Game to Feature Bodog

Two of the hottest names in entertainment have teamed up in an exciting partnership. Bodog has announced a deal with Sierra Entertainment to become an in-game promotional partner on the new Scarface video game.

Scarface: The World Is Yours is the hotly anticipated video game based on the classic Scarface film.

Calvin Ayre, Founder of Bodog who will appear as a non-playable character in the game, said, Bodog is proud to be on the frontline of the emerging convergence of video games and mainstream entertainment by supporting Scarface: The World Is Yours.

As part of the relationship, Bodog will be spotlighted in numerous segments of the game, including branded video poker, blackjack and slot machines from which players can win in-game points. Various billboards in the game world will feature Bodog Music, Bodog Battle of the Bands and Calvin Ayre, while the Bodog brand will be seen on the 'Stampede' all-terrain vehicle in the game.

Classic movie Scarface says hello to the PS2

Finally a game that manages to combine two of my favourite loves: something based on a cinematic intellectual property while also being a wholesale carbon copy of Grand Theft Auto.

That tone you are detecting is sarcasm, and my apologies for laying it on thick. Hollywood has been out of original ideas for years — has the same fate befallen the gaming industry?

Scarface: The World is Yours sets out to be an homage to the 1983 Brian DePalma classic film and in many ways it does exactly this.

Tony Montana is here, larger than life. He’s swaggering around and he’s cursing up a blue streak and he’s shooting a whole lot of people who appear to have crossed him.

For some gamers, this may be enough.

For them, the Scarface experience ends here, and the rest of the game just becomes a vehicle to revisit the infamous chainsaw scene, exact brutal revenge on your foes or hear Tony utter any one of his more memorable lines.

Scarface: The World is Yours

The world of movie-based games doesn't lack candidates, yet it is deprived of worthy exponents. The same thing can also be applied in the situation of films inspired from the virtual universe, despite the fact that the detachment, in our case of simple spectators, originates into discrepancies. After the questionable example set by Reservoir Dogs, another product nonchalantly reveals itself in the broad lights of the scene. Its name is Scarface, in essence a "motor" meant to propel the already legendary fame of another charismatic and solitary hero, Tony Montana, towards a new level of interactivity. But the path to success is sprinkled with numerous obstacles; some of them have become part of the routine, and some born from the choices someone made.

The mediocrity of competition "compelled" the people from Radical Games to operate important changes within the script's structure.

Money means access

Andrea Meyer's heart is in the right place, but the basic fact is that money is not the same as speech (Letters, Oct. 25). If it were, everybody would have the same income and the same expenses. People with more money shouldn't have more say in politics. More important, large companies should not have more of a voice than an individual person.

'Game Dork' misses
Even as The Oregonian reports on escalating school violence by troubled youth, it portrays virtual violence as an exciting sport. In his "Game Dork" column of Oct. 20, Doug Elfman, bylined as an award-winning critic, previews the video game "Scarface: The World Is Yours," as a "fantastically fun gore-fest."
Elfman rhapsodizes: "Your missions are to buy and sell cocaine .

Is the world enough?

A star-studded vocal cast will now be complemented by an A-list producer in Vivendi's upcoming action offering, 'Scarface: The World is Yours'.

Kyle Cooper, Founder and Creative Director of Prologue Films, was behind the title sequences of blockbuster movies such as Spiderman, Se7en, and Mission Impossible. Cooper will now try his hand at another kind of virtual reality when he produces Scarface's opening sequence, which needs to encapsulate the storyline, and introduce the 50 celebrity voice artists signed to the project, including James Woods, Ice T, Ricky Gervais, Bam Margera, and Tommy Lee.

'Scarface: The World is Yours' sees players control fallen drug lord Tony Montana as he tries to rebuild his empire following the climactic end of the classic 1983 movie.

UK Video Game Chart: FIFA nets a hat-trick

Despite seeing a 52% dip in sales, FIFA 07 continues to hold strong at the top of the All Formats chart. The game is currently slightly behind the sales of FIFA 06, but there's still the release of the Xbox 360 version on October 27 to bolster the numbers.

Scarface: The World is Yours debuts at No.2 and moves Lego Star Wars II down a place to No.3. Eidos' all out action title, Just Cause, holds at No.4 and EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 slips to No.5, but has the Xbox 360 release to look forward to on October 27. The second highest new entry comes from Championship Manger 2007 at No.9, in turn kicking LMA Manager 2007 down to No.15. Microsoft's Flight Simulator X also makes a solid start, entering the chart at No.19.

As predicted, Open Season's movie release sees the video game propel up the chart, now residing at No.17, and Vivendi's World of Warcraft makes a chart re-entry at No.33.

Xbox Review: Scarface - The World is Yours

Becoming the longest alternate ending in the history of the film, Scarface - The World is Yours starts at the end of the movie. As venerable Tony Montana, players break out of the drug lord's mansion instead of falling face first into a puddle of blood. Losing everything, Tony starts over from the bottom rung of the Miami drug scene, and it's up to the player to gain it all back.

This creates an interesting scenario for a movie based game. Besides rewriting film history and completely changing the point of the movie, Scarface has a lot riding on it to deliver as far as the story is concerned. Sadly, that's the one area the game misses out on entirely.

Scattered between countless drug runs, murder, escort missions and other various side missions is a story struggling to keep pace with the rest of the game.

'The World is Yours,' but do you want it?

"Scarface: The World is Yours" dives into the world of the movie, but with a question: What if Tony Montana didn't die at the end of the movie and had to rebuild his drug empire from the ground up?I have my own question: What if the game makers spend more time and money on flash and voice actors than on the gameplay itself? That's the problem with "Scarface." It has a ton of big-name talent -- along with flawed gameplay mechanics, boring missions and so-so graphics. Voice talent is great, but not at the expense of the game itself.
