Xbox Live is Down Today for Maintenance

Microsoft has scheduled another 1 day down time for Xbox Live to do some maintenance. Apparently it is not the Fall Update for the Xbox 360.

Update Oct. 18th
Xbox Live is Online Again.

It is the same story as it happend in May. I actually was not aware of the scheduled downtime, but I got so many Google hits (query: xbox live down) on the story from May that had to I look into it.

The almighty Microsoft is still not able to stage Xbox Live and switch the system with the updated code. They still take it down for the day. It is amazing. Are people getting back the subscription fee for the two days this year the service was offline? They really should.

Xbox 360 Will Support 1080p, Upscale Your DVDs and Games

At the Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft revealed some upcoming additions to its Xbox 360 platform, coming by way of software update. The upcoming update will enable 1080p resolution on the 360, allowing your current 360 games to be upscaled to 1080p like the way the console upscales original Xbox games to 720p/1080i.

Also, HD DVD will most likely be played back at 1080p when the HDMI cable is released - or just on their component cables now, we're not sure yet. The system should also be upscaling your current DVD movies to 1080p as well, which will be a welcome addition for most households with HDTVs but no upscaling DVD Player.

HALFWAY HOME

The freshman's job was complete. Or so it seemed. Turns out, Tim Tebow had something else in mind.

Before the Florida Gators' backup quarterback stepped off the grass at Florida Field and on to the sideline, he made like a pogo stick, bouncing up and down, waving his arms, doing his best to whip the second-largest crowd ever to pack Ben Hill Griffin Stadium into a frenzy.

Good effort, kid - it just wasn't necessary. Tebow and his mates gave the boisterous sea of orange and blue plenty of reasons to keep The Swamp swaying Saturday afternoon.

In a span of less than four minutes, the fifth-ranked Gators stunned the nation's top defense and dropped the hammer on special teams, resulting in Florida's 23-10 win over No. 9 LSU.

Florida (6-0, 4-0 SEC) has won 13 straight home games, the sixth-longest string in program history.

College kids bet on life

Ari Paul's dorm room at the University of Pennsylvania has the trappings of the contemporary collegiate male: acoustic guitar, Hooters calendar, supersize bag of tortilla chips on the floor, and dual flat-screen computer monitors at which he's playing three simultaneous hands of online poker.

The game is Omaha high, close to Texas hold
em. Cards flick across the screens at a speed no casino dealer could match.

The stakes are low by Paul's old standards, a total buy-in of just $500 at the three virtual tables. A political science major in a grueling senior year, he has reined in his game since last summer, when he routinely logged into online poker "rooms" with $3,000 and stayed 12 hours. His win rate (he calls it "expected value") has tumbled from $150 an hour to $30. - Cheap Sports Tickets-Sportsticketsguide is the best source for cheap sports tickets, now offers discount code for instant discount on all sports tickets - Top Pc Games - Online SCores
