One of the most popular games in Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade is making the quantum leap to cellphones - and Sony is the one to make it happen.

Not the cellphone version Sony BMG Music, which is half-owned by Sony, said on Friday that it is working with Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations and mobile phone game maker Hardcore 3D Wireless to bring Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved to phones later this year. You'll remember Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved as the simple-yet-maddeningly-addictive game that helped make the Xbox Live Arcade the success it is. It sounds simple enough but this devilish game has ensnared gamers around the world, with the very best vying for the top of the leader boards on Xbox Live in hours-long struggles against the shapely enemies.

ENTER THE VIRTUAL BATTLEFIELD IN UPCOMING TOURNAMENT AT GAMEFORCE

GameForce in Kingwood Town Center will be hosting a Battlefield 2 tournament on the weekend of December 9th in conjunction with the Rebels of Mankind squad. Battlefield 2 is set in the hypothetical modern-day war between the United States, China and a Middle Eastern Coalition.

Players begin the game as a soldier for one of the three opposing forces, but are able to commandeer numerous vehicles including jets and helicopters. They can also be promoted to the position of commander by their fellow team mates which allows them to map enemy positions and call in artillery strikes and supply drops. The game monitors the progress of a player, awarding medals and promotions as necessary which allow the players to unlock new weaponry.

The tournament will be a five person team game, which will limit players to infantry combat only.
