Blue Dragon to Ship on 3 DVDs

Microsoft's stubborn approach to HD-DVD games might settle those not willing to splash out on another peripheral just to play games, but that shouldn't mean that the games that spill onto more than one DVD shouldn't also appear on HD-DVD, surely?

Mistwalker's much anticipated Blue Dragon comes on 3, and whilst that obviously won't mean lots of swapping (come on, surely it's split into three acts or something) it's still a call for a large media solution. With take-up on the HD-DVD pre-orders higher than expected, people are obviously willing to pay for such an idea, so lets just hope that the policy changes in the near future...

23:17 Japanese Blue Dragon bundle pics (0)

Microsoft is relaying on Gears of War to push 360s from the shelves in the US but the Japanese generally aren't interested in shooters with bulky space marines. So to conquer the hearts of the Japanese Microsoft is going use Blue Dragon as their killer app. Needless to say there's a Blue Dragon bundle coming and Game Watch have the first pics of this bundle.

Enchanted Arms PS3 Gets Release Date

We've known for a while that the Xbox 360 RPG Enchanted Arms would be ported over to the PS3, but until today, we didn't have a release date. From Software has announced the PS3 version is scheduled for a Japanese January 25, 2007 release, and for a price of 8190 yen (about $71).

Originally designed to be a 360 exclusive, the game gives us the story of an enchanter-in-training, Atsuma, who is supposedly destined for greatness as the world's most powerful mage. The title sports over 100 playable and non-playable characters, a traditional turn-based battle mechanic, and a set of secret unlockable creatures that can be added to your combat party. The PS3 port will include all this and more, like added cutscenes and other story elements.

Unfortunately, we're not sure yet if the game's publisher, Ubisoft, plans to release the PS3 version here in the U.S.

12:25 Interesting new Blue Dragon details (2)

There's an interview with Mistwalker honcho Hironobu Sakaguchi in the latest edition of Famitsu and thankfully the friendly guys at GAF posted the most interesting tidbits. Apparently their upcoming J-RPG Blue Dragon is going to be 40-50 hours long and comes on no less than 3 DVDs, and there are more games in Mistwalker's pipeline.

Blue Dragon Playable Opening Sequence in High Definition

Created by Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker game studio and developer Artoon, the highly anticipated Xbox 360-exclusive Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game (RPG) centered on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends. These unlikely heroes possess miraculous strength and magical power to control phantom shadows that mirror the actions of their masters. The game is being developed by ARTOON and features the character design of Akira Toriyama, of "Dragon Ball" fame , and music by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for Final Fantasy. Today, we bring you a new in-game action sequence of Blue Dragon featuring the game's intro. HD (1280x720) | SD (640X360) .

Rumor: Blue Dragon 2 Slated (Well, Duh)

Nothing's been announced, but this seems kinda obvious seeing as how much time, effort and money Microsoft has poured into Blue Dragon—the product of Final Fantasy mastermind Hironobu Sakaguchi and Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Quest character designer Akira Toriyama. If Japan does not dig Blue Dragon, give up, Microsoft. But, early indications point to a hit, albeit an Xbox 360-sized hit. Brian Ashcraft

Women warriors making history for U.S. military

EDITOR'S NOTE: Something is happening, little noticed amid the carnage of Iraq and Afghanistan: Women are playing a far more extensive role in America's military than they did in any other war.

A goodwill mission to deliver kerosene heaters to Iraqi schools erupts into the fiery chaos of a roadside bombing -- and Maj. Mary Prophit shields a comrade so he can rescue a critically burned Iraqi soldier.

NBA Live 07 Rocking the Cell

I've yet to play a mobile game that is even a shadow of it's console self. So I don't have high hopes for NBA Live 07, or at least the mobile version of the game.

It's going to feature Marv Albert doing play-by-play, a season mode, hundreds of animations and no chance of interesting me.

Sadist mobile gamers should hit the jump. Brian Crecente
