MCP: SONY'S FIRST PARTY PARTY

While Devin spent the early part of this week in Romania, I went the other direction. Sony held a two-day press event (four days with travel, ultimately!) to show off all sorts of new code for the PS3 and PSP, and even a couple things for the PS2. Altogether, this is a more impressive lineup than what we've been used to dogging for the past year. I'm still not certain that it's enough to sell the PS3, but there are more than a couple games on this list I'm anxious to play.

(I had planned to link to trailers on GameTrailers and elsewhere for each of these titles, but those guys have conveniently put up a single page collecting all their stuff from the event. In the interest of saving time, just click here.)

Um, Guys, We Really Need To Sell Some PS3s.

When Sony last showed off a collection of first party games, Lair seemed like one of the better offerings.

Wii's Resident Evil 4 Only $29.99

Good news today for everyone who shamefully, shamefully neglected to play Resident Evil 4 when it originally came out on Gamecube and later on PS2. Joystiq.com is reporting that Capcom has listed the Wii version of the modern classic at the wonderful budget price of $29.99.

Do you hear that all you slackers? Now you have absolutely no excuse not to go pick this one up. Its not even like you need an excuse. You will have a giant bundle of fun I promise you. Hell, I already own the original Gamecube version and unless the Wii-controls miraculously end up sucking, I will be buying this one all over again.

I cant imagine the controls not living up to expectations, though. This game was meant to be played on the Wii. The precision aiming in RE4 that allowed you to shoot enemies in specific areas to get different results (shot in the leg brings them down to their knees) was only faulty when considering how hard it sometimes was to aim with an analog pad.

Jackass Gets Stupid with New Game

Johnny Knoxville has a message for everyone who is interested in playing the new Jackass video game. We just hope that our video game is as crappy as our movies. The stars of the dont-try-this-at-home hit will be making their way to a Nintendo DS, PSP, or PS2 near you sometime in September. The game features 35 mini-games, which are set up as crazy stunts. Gamers will produce their own episodes with these stuntsscoring points by inflicting the most pain possible on the mischievous pranksters. Jackass regulars Steve-O and Chris Pontius were featured in a few early DS commercials when promoting their show Wildboyz so they are no strangers to the video game world. AMN will keep you informed on all the tomfoolery as it develops. .
