Child-inspired photography exhibit opens at Wittliff Gallery

O. Rufus Lovett said he needed a moist towel to remove the sticky fingerprints of children from his camera. Lovett spoke at the Wittliff Gallery’s LITTLE HEROES exhibition reception Saturday in Alkek Library. The photographs feature children from the gallery’s permanent collection and include works by numerous artists. Photographers Antonio Turok, Geoff Winningham and Lovett discussed the recurrence of children in their work on a panel led by Connie Todd, curator of special collections at Alkek Library. Lovett, who recently finished a project in Weeping Mary, said he is fascinated with children. "The children in Weeping Mary were the ones to accept me openly because they don’t know a lot of history," Lovett said. "What is this big white guy coming down here and taking our photographs for?" Lovett said he photographed children on the streets because they were always around.

New Assassin's Creed info appears - will turning multiplatform ...

Assassin's Creed is another very promising multiplatform title due out later this year (we can't pin it down any closer than that I'm afraid). It was first sighted back in 2005 and although it went through a bit of a ‘will it, won't it' phase with regards to Xbox 360 support, this is clearly one of those titles a next-gen console needs to have on board to retain any kudos. From the fairly lengthy X06 demo, it looks pretty spectacular too – imagine a cross between Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider and Thief, with a sprinkling off Madden NFL (watch the vid to see what I mean – it's impressive).

Xbox World 360 magazine has the scoop on some fresh details about the game in an interview with script writer Cory May. The game is set in the Third Crusade so we can expect a lot of bustling medieval, middle-eastern looking cities to roam around in.

Devil May Cry 4

Capcom swung by the CVG offices with the latest playable version of Devil May Cry 4 and we were very impressed with what we saw. Grabbing the pad out of the Capcom representative's hands, we leaped straight into the action in that cathedral-looking level that you will have seen in trailers and was struck instantly by how amazing it looks. The environmental detail is incredible, with pin-sharp textures wrapped around the lush world that stretched into the distance. It looks amazing in 1080p. .

What the French papers say

"Boycott the Cannes festival which stinks of vulgarity. Why do you cover this sordid event each year? It exists only to enrich a social and cultural class far from those to which you are ideologically committed... There are other much more interesting festivals with better programmes, such as San Sebastian, Berlin and Venice, that don't depend on stupefying the public and subjecting them to the values of filthy money."

This is from a blog on the left-leaning website of Libération, the French newspaper most similar to the Guardian. Nevertheless, Libration, and all the other papers of the host country, is covering the Cannes festival almost as extensively as the changes of government.

Grand Theft Auto IV trailer parody: Grand Theft Shaman IV

What happens when you mix Blizzard's World of Warcraft with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV? Well, apparently you get Grand Theft Shaman IV. This spoof of the GTA IV trailer is hilarious. I mean, they've decided to cast Niko as a Draenei Shaman, tentacles and all.

The video is pretty well made, and the choice of shots were pretty good. They even copied the train scenes and the walk taken by Niko across the bridge. It would have been better if they added in some "in-game footage" to spice it up but the parody sticks very closely to its source material. Before watching the video be sure to check out the GTA IV trailer in the full article so you don't miss the nuances of the parody.

Anyway, enough chit-chat. Here is the video of Grand Theft Shaman. If you want to compare both vids, you can check out the full article.
