Square Enix originally had the exclusive RPG Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors down as a launch title for Nintendo's Wii, but has since delayed the game to ensure it is as good as it possibly can be. At the recent Square Enix Party people were able to go hands-on with the highly anticipated title.

The good folk over at Gamespot have gone on record to provide a detailed hands-on report with the on-rails role-playing game, the first ever spin-off of the main series that Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has been actively involved in. Along with the help of Eighting (Bloody Roar, Kuru Kururin) and Nintendo-owned Genius Sonority (Pokémon Battle Revolution, Pokémon XD), Yuji Horii's Armour Project has been hard at work on the spiritual successor to Kenshin Dragon Quest, a TV plug-in game that was only ever released in Japan and has sold over 500,000 copies to date.

New Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest Games Confirmed for Wii, DS, and PSP

Square Enix confirmed today that it will release several new Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles in North America in the coming year.

On the Dragon Quest side, Square Enix confirmed that it will release both Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker for the Nintendo DS, and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Wii. DQ Monsters - Joker is due for release in Q4 2007, while Dragon Quest Swords is still listed with a date to be determined.

Meanwhile, there will be two titles released in the Final Fantasy franchise, under the heading of the Ivalice Alliance. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions will be a remake of the original Final Fantasy Tactics, including new CG cutscenes, new jobs, 16:9 presentation, new multiplayer modes, and more.

Famitsu Serves Up Dragon Quest Swords Details

This Saturday, Square Enix will be hosting their annual Square Enix Party in Japan, an event that is sure to bring new information regarding the companys many projects. In the meantime, though, we have a few interesting bits about one such project, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Wii.

Famitsu recently did an article on the Wii title, complete with a several new details and images on the project. Thanks to the efforts of a few intrepid souls over at Slime Knights, we also have an English translation.

According to the translation, Dragon Quest Swords is scheduled for a July 12, 2007 release date in Japan. (As a general rule, Square Enix takes about six months to localize titles over in America, so it is reasonable to expect a U.S.

EA has released a teaser trailer for a new officially unannounced Need for Speed title on the NFS: Carbon website. However, it probably doesn't have much to do with Carbon because it's showcasing a badly damaged, yet patched up car crashing into the sides of the track.

More information about this game will be revealed in 10 days according to the timer on the website. We expect a full press release announcing the next iteration in the Need for Speed series when the said timer reaches zero.
