LocoRoco Creator: PSP Has Too Many Sequels Despite the fact that sequels tend to sell extremely well, and despite the fact that sequels tend to be even better than the original game, some people don't like them. Well, to be more specific, some don't like how many sequels there are, especially for the PSP. LocoRoco creator Tsutomu Houno recently told GamesIndustry.biz that there are simply too many sequels on Sony's portable, and he plans to do something about it. As he said at the Nordic Games Conference earlier this week- "We need to make more new games for PSP, not just sequels. We have to increase the number of casual games, games that LocoRoco players will want to play." Well, that's a nice way to combine a plug for your own game with a semi-political videogame-related statement. Kouno's creation is certainly unique (the game may actually appear on the PS3), so he's got a right to say what he thinks. Sony Upgrades PS3 Image Quality, Adds "Place-Shifting" to PSP Tokyo - Sony has released a software upgrade for its PlayStation 3 that improves image quality for movies and legacy games, and also provides "place-shifting" of content stored on the PS3's hard drive to a PSP handheld.The update improves resolution for PS2 and PlayStation titles, as well as movies. It will also allow access via PSP to music, photos and videos stored on the PS3 while away from home over any Internet connection, a la Sling Media's Slingbox.The software update was made available for PS3 owners on Thursday. North America: SONY releases new PS3 software BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhuanet) -- New PlayStation 3 software to be released Thursday in North America features video upscaling capabilities and more PSP Remote Play functionality, according to an announcement Wednesday by Sony Computer Entertainment America. The software update will improve the picture quality of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games played on the PlayStation 3, and show movies up to 1080p resolution. Classic games will look even better, according to Sony, and Blu-ray Disc videos will be maximized on big-screen TVs that connect to the PS3 using HDMI. The new update also expands the capabilities of Remote Play, a function introduced with the console that provides the ability for PlayStation Portable (PSP) users to view content stored on their PS3 remotely on their PSPs, such as photos, videos and music.
