Sony: 41 Network Games In Development

Thus far, the PlayStation Store has been enjoying fairly consistent updates, as gamers have been seeing new trailers, demos, and full downloadable titles since the PS3's launch last November. Major updates abound, like the first - and very good - arcade title, flOw, Sony's Christmas present to all in the form of a Gran Turismo HD demo, and the latest fantastic playable demo of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. But according to Sony, they're just heating up.

SCEA president and CEO, Jack Tretton, recently told GamePro that the amount of PlayStation Network content will soon be off the charts.

"We have 41 games in development devoted to the Network, not just talking about PSone games being enabled. We're talking about games developed specifically for the PS3," Tretton said.

He didn't go into specifics regarding estimated release dates, but he did say we should expect to see the majority of them later on this year, perhaps closer to the holidays.

Sony Using Again PGR 3 to Promote the PlayStation 3

Not so long ago, we discovered Sony using a screenshot of Project Gotham Racing 3 to promote Gran Turismo 4 for the PlayStation 3 (Gran Turismo HD Concept). As soon as Sony discovered their mistake, they removed the embarrassing image and replaced with one taken from GT4. Well, this time the fraud is more obvious as Sony and one of its promotion partners, KIA Motors, is using a screenshot from PGR3 that has a Ferrari on the starting line, with a PGR plate! The Spanish site is hosting a promotion to test real cars and their digital counterparts in any KIA dealer. We wonder if they will use a PlayStation 3 for the tests or an Xbox 360 loaded with PGR 3 .

Xbox 360: Forza Motorsport 2 Revs Up With New Fan Site Material

Weve reported a lot of news for Forza Motorsport 2. In fact, weve covered nearly every single aspect of the game. The only thing we havent put into motion is the review. But Im sure thatll all come around full swing soon enough. But for now, we have some news for Forza 2 fan-site creators.

If youre a webmaster looking to cash in on some new ways to support the biggest new racing simulator since Gran Turismo HD what?! I only mentioned Gran Turismo this time because it was the last biggest racing simulator well you can gather up some new tools and assets to use for your fan site.

Microsoft recently let loose a press release detailing the new features for fan site material that can be downloaded on the Official Forza Motorsport 2 Website. According to the press release, Today, on Forzamotorsport.net, a new fan site kit for "Forza Motorsport 2" is now available for download.

New Gran Turismo Video On May 4

If it's not the most anticipated title of the year - if it makes it out this year, that is - than it's easily in the top five, we think. We were teased with a stellar demo during Christmas time, and most have viewed HD Concept as a very positive thing. Ever since then, fans of the simulator franchise have been chomping at the bit for more news regarding the next installment. Well, here's a little something to tide you over.

If you visit Sony's "semi-official" blog, ThreeSpeech, you'll notice they've announced a brand new video that will hit the PlayStation Store on May 4. There is virtually no information about the video, but hey, it's a new Gran Turismo video! What more information do you really need to be excited? However, there is one curious little tidbit in the post:

"Its also worth keeping an eye on www.granturismoworld.com, for future announcements."

Oh yeah? Are they hinting at a forthcoming announcement that might coincide with the release of this new video? And if so, are we looking at a major development, or perhaps just another car or race track for the demo? Well, whatever occurs, the video will certainly whet our appetite...at least for a while.

Greg O’Daniel

Greg O'Daniel, co-owner and general manager of O'Daniel Chrysler-Jeep-Audi-Mazda-Porsche, spoke with editorial writer Julie Creek about the sale and his hopes for the company's future. Excerpts from the interview appear below.

1) Do people consider who owns the company when they buy a car?

I think so. You know it proved true when Daimler purchased Chrysler. I think it brought a sense that there was more quality and technology brought to Chrysler cars. People considered that this German company is infusing all of their heritage and technology into the Chrysler products.

2) What is your greatest hope and worst fear?

A good American firm is now putting their hard-earned dollars behind this company. They obviously believe in the American car market.
