Guild Wars: Nightfall

02 December - 'Nightfall' is with us but will it satiate the appetite of the millions of ravenous Guild Wars fans or will it sink into obscurity?

For those of you who are familiar with the Guild Wars games, youll be pleased to know that Nightfall is essentially more of the same, with a couple of interesting new twists to the formula to keep even the most hardened veterans happy. You also might want to skip the next couple of paragraphs. New players interested in getting into the series will want to know why they should spend their hard-earned on Nightfall. Well, for a start it is the only major MMO game that doesnt come with a monthly charge buy a copy and you can play as much or as little as you want. There is no pressure to play when you dont want to just to make sure you eke the full value out of your monthly payment.

Guild Wars Nightfall gets Skill List update

Been havin' a blast playing Nightfall, haven't you? Good, because from here on, your Guild Wars gameplay will only get better baby, and NCSoft is out to prove to you just how.

What are we talking about exactly? Well, as you guys have probably noticed, Nightfall adds a ton of new features to the world of Guild Wars. And even after the game manual has been sent to the press, NCSoft simply won't quit improving the game for their users because now, they have just come out with new features for Nightfall which were designed after the manual went to press.

Meaning, these new features have not been documented anywhere but in the game's site. If you head over to their site, you'll see that the Nightfall section has just been expanded, donning new documents and articles on the following aspects of Nightfall:

Guild Wars Nightfall: info on Dervishes and Paragons

So you just bought your copy of Nightfall. You head straight to your PC, update it with the latest Guild Wars campaign, and check out the latest additions to the Guild Wars profession family: the Dervish and the Paragon.

Now, you might have read my article about using 'em in PvP combat, but if you're not entirely familiar with these two new professions, you might get a thing or two here.

Dervishes, according to the Guild Wars official site, "have the ability to clear out the crowd." These scythe-wielding characters have the ability to deal damage to "three adjacent foes combined" because of their Dervish Enchantments. Add to that their "Condition-applying skills," and you got one mean tank slash nuker (rumor has it that this guys' scythe has "a higher maximum damage than any other weapon in the game").

New Guild Wars Content This Weekend

ArenaNet let us know that this weekend the Domain of Anguish will open for people who have finished the Nightfall expansion for Guild Wars. "Players will find four separate areas to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well."

Freaking put uber loot drops from bosses and I may actually consider this game. People are loot whores, when in the hell does ArenaNet plan to face that fact?

Guild Wars to open up Domain of Anguish

It's interesting that the first two image hits for a GIS of "anguish" are for Firefly and Xena, two shows that it pains me are no longer on TV. I know, less me, more GW. Weekend plans are forming since I saw this news at the official Guild Wars site:

This weekend is truly special, as we launch the opening of the Domain of Anguish. Players who have completed Nightfall will be given access to this elite area through the Chantry of Secrets on Friday, December 1st. You will find four separate areas for players to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well. We look forward to seeing you in the Domain of Anguish!

Domain of Anguish is also a cool name for a band.

Should women be screened for ovarian cancer? Researchers hope to answer that question through a new study in which blood and urine samples from healthy, postmenopausal women are collected and analyzed.

Goal of study

M. D. Anderson researchers conducting the Low-Risk Ovarian Cancer Study hope the clinical trial and others like it one day may lead to a more effective screening test to increase early detection of the disease.

Of the 20,180 women in the United States expected to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2006, 15,310 are expected to die from the disease, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS).

Unfortunately, theres no effective screening test, like the mammogram or colonoscopy, to detect ovarian cancer at an early stage when the chance of cure is greatest, says Karen Lu, M.D., associate professor in M. D. Andersons Department of Gynecologic Oncology.
