Star Wars Battlefront Blasting to PSP

LucasArts today announced that its latest entry in the Star Wars Battlefront series will be PSP exclusive. Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is being developed by Rebellion, and should be available this fall. Renegade Squadron is the lone entry in the series coming out this year. As such, the title will introduce a new character customization system, allowing players to custom tailor their characters weapons, abilities, and equipment. Renegade Squadron will also boast online play; up to 16 players will be able to face off with their customized characters. LucasArts will also be adding a new story for the single-player campaign mode. That Renegade Squadron in the title will be the main group players will control. This secret group of characters will be running missions for the Rebel Alliance under the command of Han Solo.

Star Wars opens new Battlefront on PSP

After taking 2006 off, LucasArts' Star Wars: Battlefront series of shooters is returning in 2007, but only on the PlayStation Portable. The publisher today announced that it will release Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron exclusively for Sony's handheld this fall.

As the only new entry in the series this year, Renegade Squadron will introduce a new character-customization system. Instead of picking from a lineup of regimented character classes, players will be able to tailor their character's weapons, abilities, and equipment to their liking. Renegade Squadron will also be playable online in battles of up to 16 players, so players will be able to pit their customized characters against others' to see which combinations work best.

LucasArts is also adding a new story for the single-player campaign mode, with the Renegade Squadron of the title being a secret group of shady characters running missions for the Rebel Alliance under the command of Han Solo.

But even more intriguing is the imminent arrival of Killzone PS3 information, as described by Guerilla Games' "motherH" Downie:

"Hi folks, the long-awaited launch of www.killzone.com is finally here. Now it is still work in progress and is not 100% yet, but it should allow you access to your unlockables via PSP or PC as well as exclusive content on the site.
