Live-Action Halo 3 Commercial Hits Next Week

Microsoft just announced that a new minute-long spot for Halo 3 will be airing on Dec. 4 on ESPN Monday Night Football and Xbox.com in Europe.

The commercial will "offer viewers an exclusive look at the iconic Halo universe and provide telling, new hints as to what Bungie Studios has in store for the highly regarded game." More interestingly, the commercial, which airs between 5:50 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. PST on ESPN and 8 p.m. PST on Xbox.com, will include a mix of live action and computer generated animation. That's right, live-action Halo baby. Once it airs, the commercial, created by the McCann Worldgroup in San Francisco, will hit Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft also announced details for the Halo 3 public beta program set to kick-off this coming spring. Hit the jump for the full release.

Xbox 360 - Microsoft "plays" with Halo 3

Do you remember the numerous viral websites Microsoft opened just before the Xbox 360 launch in order to raise the hype of its next-generation console? Good. However, what you don't know is that Microsoft seems to take a liking to such things and uses every kind of media to give hints that very few people will be able to catch.

Fortunately for us, Joystiq.com is among them and has spread its discovery: during the TV Advertising titled Cops & Robbers 2 cars appears in the video and their license plates are the clues we are talking about. The first license plate (00:18 of the video) says "GOW - 1106" which can be read as Gears of War will be released on November 2006 (and that's true!); on the other hand, the second one (00:50 of the video) says "HA LO0307".

Will it mean "Halo will be released on March 2007" or "Halo 3 will be released on 2007"? We leave you with this uncertainty and with the advertising video and two screenshots of the car license plates.

Forza 2 delayed until June with others

In an interview with MTV, Xbox boss Peter Moore has confirmed that Forza Motorsport 2, Shadowrun, Too Human and the excellent-looking Crackdown have all been delayed until June 2007. He also commented that having played a recent build of Halo 3, he thinks that it is "everything people would expect to see in a next-generation version of Halo."

The delay to Forza 2 will come as a shock to most, given that it was originally due for release towards the end of this year, then delayed until early in 2007.

Bungie Confirms Global Beta For Halo 3 [ News ]

With suggestions that that the Halo 3 Beta next year will be for North American gamers only, Bungie confirms otherwise... Author: Jon Wilcox | Date Added: 01/12/2006

Earlier in the day, Microsoft and Bungie released a screen taken from the forthcoming CG Halo 3 trailer, which will air at 2:15am GMT on December 5th on Xbox.com - a version will also be released on Xbox Live Marketplace in 720p.In a statement originating from the US, confirmation of the impending pre-rendered teaser was accompanied with a line about how US gamers will be able to take part in a Beta test of the title in Spring 2007. No mention was made in the statement about gamers outside of the US of A - leaving many bewildered that perhaps Microsoft were being a tad US-centric...In response, Bungie has now confirmed that the Beta will be available globally in 2007 - though specific details on when the test will take place remains under wraps for now. We'll have more news shortly.

Speel nu reeds Halo 3

On the heels of this morning's announcement of the first way to get in Halo 3's beta, it looks like some folks might already be playing something Halo-related on Xbox Live. Several Xbox Live users, including some Microsoft employees were spotted on Xbox Live playing a new game -- Pimps at Sea (Alpha). For those familiar with Bungie's shenanigans, Pimps at Sea is the oft-used moniker for different projects the company has worked on -- and was also the subject of an April Fools' joke a few years back. .

The New Console Wars 411 Roundtable: Part II

Welcome to the long overdue second part of the 411 Games: New Console Wars roundtable. Blame work, school, and my computer breaking down the exact same day in which I was going to post this. But fear not, I am back with a new video card and a fixed Ethernet port. Part II focuses of our writers opinions on all three consoles. Without further ado, here we go! NOTE: All writers opinions were collected before the Wii and PS3 launches. Armando Rodriguez: Self proclaimed PREVIEW KING, author of Cheap Gaming 101 Microsoft Xbox 360 - I think the 360 is the best deal right now. It has a one year advantage, which means that there is a wide variety of games to choose from and with long awaited releases like Halo 3, Gears of War, Forza 2 and Fable 2 coming soon, it is going to get better. Sure, it is not as powerful as the PS3, but power doesnt equal quality.

Halo 3 Mulitplayer Beta - Codename: Pimps at Sea

Next spring, Microsoft plans to roll out a pre-release version of the multiplayer mode of Halo 3 in the form of a public multiplayer beta. But it seems Bungie has already started play testing this beta as many Xbox Live users have been seen online playing "Pimps at Sea (Alpha)". For those living under a rock, Pimps at Sea is an April Fool's joke that Bungie Studios started back in 2001 and repeated subsequently every year to present day. Last Thursday, well known Bungie employees (Evil Otto, New0001) have been showing the following status in their gamertags: "Playing Pimps At Sea (Alpha)" "Sailing, Yarr!" It seems as a logical move that before rolling out such a big public beta, Bungie would test that code with fewer users first; hence the "alpha" cryptonym. Don't forget that registration for the opportunity to be one of the select members to join the unprecedented Halo 3 public beta program begins next Monday, December 4, 2006.

Microsoft inviting gamers to Halo 3 beta

Microsoft is aiming to boost the curiosity on their upcoming Halo 3 videogame with a 60-second live action and CGI TV commercial. They are also planning to let gamers sign on to get access to a multiplayer beta.

Halo videogame franchise has already seen sales exceeding 15 million units worldwide. And it also accounts for more than 800 million multiplayer hours on Xbox Live.

The latest in this series Halo 3 is due to land in the market by the middle of next year and Microsoft is working hand on making sure that the enthusiasm for this game continues to remain at its peak.

The company is due to showcase a 60-second "trailer" promoting Halo 3 on ESPN's Monday Night Football tomorrow. It would also be made available on the Xbox website tomorrow. This Television Spot has been made by McCann Media Group San Francisco and uses both live action and CG animation.
