Heavenly Sword for PlayStation 3 - Fact Sheet

Emotionally charged, stunningly beautiful, and delivering unprecedented dramatic character performance, Heavenly Sword showcases the power of PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system. A dramatic tale of revenge sees Nariko, a fiery red-haired heroine, embark on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army. The story builds around the ancient Heavenly Sword, which once belonged to a powerful deity. It can never be wielded by a mortal without it slowly but inevitably draining their life-force.

When the invading King (played by Andy Serkis) destroys the warrior clan that guards the Heavenly Sword, the clan leader's daughter, Nariko, takes up the sword in a desperate fight for survival. Nariko must now pay the ultimate price as she embarks on one last mission of vengeance against the King and his army before her life is finally and irreparably overtaken by the omnipotent Heavenly Sword

Andy Serkis, famous for his roles as Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" and Kong in "King Kong", was heavily involved in the creative process.

Graphics dont mean everything. This is proven time over with every single game that continues to fuel the Wiis success. But in all likeness, the Wii isnt the only one with games that happen to focus more on gaming than graphics. Naughty Dogs latest project goes above and beyond to deliver more than just beautiful visuals.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is one of those rare games that really delves into the adventure of adventure gaming. It takes a little bit from the later Broken Sword games, a little bit from generic third-person shooters, and a little bit from Tomb Raider. The result is nothing short of play-worthy, and I honestly have to say that compared to other triple-A titles (i.e., Lair, Heavenly Sword, Dark Sector, &c.) Naughty Dogs Uncharted is looking a lot more inspired by comparison.

Heavenly Sword may get multiplayer update after launch

Speaking to Eurogamer, Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades has hinted that a multiplayer mode of Heavenly Sword might be on the cards. It won't be featuring in the launch title as the game is first and foremost a single player experience, but it will be a relief to PSN users who want more interesting downloadable content for the console.

With the recent lack of new titles, high hopes have been pinned on Heavenly Sword to deliver the enhanced gameplay that Sony promised its high-tech cell processor and Blu-ray drive would deliver. Even so, Antoniades implies that there is even more power to be milked form the console: "We are pushing it bloody hard - that's for sure!" he said. "But this is our first-generation engine for PS3, so there's certainly a lot more in the machine to give.

Heavenly Sword, one of the most anticipated games on the PS3, might be getting a multiplayer mode, according to Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades.

In an interview conducted by Eurogamer, Antoniades mentioned that whilst the multiplayer feature will not be included at launch, it's a strong possibility it will be included further down the track.

There's no multiplayer mode in Heavenly Sword as our focus was always to create an intense personal experience; it would have been too damn complex to deal with that as well. We did, however, develop the combat system using multiplayer test levels, as it's a great way of soak testing and balancing it.

Testing the fighting and gameplay multiplayer seems like an excellent way to develop a game, a number of beta trials have recently been announced and are under way, including Warhawk, Halo 3 and shortly, Killzone 2.
