CDV Software Entertainment USA and Monte Cristo announce the upcoming North American release of City Life: World Edition, a significantly updated version of City Life, a fully 3D city building and management simulation. City Life: World Edition will feature new maps, over 100 new buildings, famous landmarks from across the globe and a built-in content editor to truly make each city the player's own. City Life: World Edition is set to ship to North American retail on January 15, 2007.

City Life: World Edition, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed city builder, City Life, keeps all the great aspects of the original and expands the possibilities through exciting new content and features. Guild Wars to open up Domain of Anguish

It's interesting that the first two image hits for a GIS of "anguish" are for Firefly and Xena, two shows that it pains me are no longer on TV. I know, less me, more GW. Weekend plans are forming since I saw this news at the official Guild Wars site:

This weekend is truly special, as we launch the opening of the Domain of Anguish. Players who have completed Nightfall will be given access to this elite area through the Chantry of Secrets on Friday, December 1st. You will find four separate areas for players to explore, nearly a dozen quests, new armor upgrade options, a system for acquiring novel weapons, and of course a compelling mission as well. We look forward to seeing you in the Domain of Anguish!

Domain of Anguish is also a cool name for a band.

HOMM V: Hammers of Fate

Out of distinctive reasons, the series comeback was made in a manner tributary to the original concept, refreshing the visual presentation and sending the partial failure of the 4th episode into oblivion (the fact is that I've never considered HOMM IV to be such a big sidestep, but more like a variation capable of educating its supporters in a particular style). Most of the blaming voices out there mustn't forget that a good thing can only be seldom improved (in a true sense), and the virtual world already proved us many times that such maneuvers are just samples of a favorable mix of circumstances. So, no matter how big it says "Heroes III reloaded" on the collar label, and despite the hardware requirements grown on the back of some questionable technological progresses, Heroes of Might and Magic V remains a 3D TBS title of reference, and with the aid of few patches and some "slightly" vigorous expansion packs, this aspect could end up being recognized on a somewhat larger scale.

Frontline: Kursk Turns into Frontline: Fields of Thunder

Paradox Interactive announces that their first installment in the "Frontline" series has been confirmed as "Frontline: Fields of Thunder". Developers are Nival Interactive, known for "Heroes of Might and Magic V" and "Blitzkrieg" and N-Game Studios. "Frontline: Fields of Thunder" follows in the footsteps of the original "Blitzkrieg" and incorporates the best aspects of the now classic RTS games. "Frontline: Fields of Thunder" is scheduled to release in February worldwide.

Paradox Interactive have also released the complete game features of "Frontline: Fields of Thunder:
- The battle at the Kursk Salient was Germany's last attempt to avoid defeat in World War II. This conflict was marked by a ferocity that had been previously unseen by either side and has been remembered as the largest tank engagement in world history.

The Tuesday Shipping Fest

The holidays are on their way,and so game publishers are shipping games out faster than anyone can imagine. If you count our earlier news item about Sonic shipping, you'll have six new games headed to stores today. Take a look.

Warhammer: Battle for Atluma: It's hard to imagine that Namco's shipping this Warhammer electronic collectible card game for PSP, so close to shipping Mark of Chaos for PC. Nobody even knew about this game until about two weeks ago, and by looking at the older screens (dig up our old news item in our fancy new search) - we can see why.

Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate: An expansion for the patch-fest that was Heroes of Might and Magic V RTS. New factions, new campaign, new missions...you've heard it all. But really, do we need an expansion so close to when the full game shipped? Is this Nival and UbiSoft's version of the Xbox Live Marketplace style of game publishing? Just on the PC?

Monster Bomber - Oh look, another puzzle/bubble popping title for DS, but this time, you fling bombs at monsters.

Vista RTM tells a RAM graphic tale

WE GOT out hands on Vista RTM and we have a few key points to share with you. First of all, Half Life 2 episode one works great on the Radeon X1950XTX. We wanted to give it a try with G80, EVGA Geforce 8800 GTX but we still don't have any drivers for this card. Sources close to Nvidia said it might happen by the end of this week. Well it's Friday, so it cannot get much more end of the week than this. Unless you count Saturday. It's out either tonight or delayed until next week.

Vista build 6000 installs in 25 minutes and you need some 60 minutes do an upgrade from the past RC2 build 58xx. I installed Creative Labs X-Fi drivers, the beta ones and they works just fine and SATA SiL drivers work great as well.

After a few touches we were ready for the rock and what I call the role.
