A Christmas that croons and pops

Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Being a consumer is supposed to be easy. You visit a store, find what you want and then pay for it -- this is what modern society is built upon, or so it seems come December. But shoppers looking for Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3 may end up being disappointed this holiday season. There may not be enough of these hot video-game consoles to go around, so it's best to keep expectations down -- and to resist the temptation to pay a cent more than the sticker price (that's $280 for the Wii, $660 for the PS3 and $500 for the 360). Microsoft's Xbox 360 has been pleasing the hard-core crowd, and it has a been a good 12 months for games for the older systems, especially the PlayStation 2. Guitar Hero II, Okami and Final Fantasy XII will be much more than consolation prizes for PS2 owners, and the charming LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is a good all-ages bet for most game machines, especially the 360.
