MTV Cuts Mass Effect Feature

Microsoft has been at the forefront of promoting new Xbox 360 titles and showcasing their goods wherever they can. However, due to time constraints MTV had to pull a scheduled airing of Mass Effect on the G-Hole. Microsoft, saddened at the turn of events, offered an apology to the gaming community. Seriously.

MTVs Gamer Week 2.0 was supposed to run a special feature on the exclusive game on the Xbox 360, although scheduling just didnt work in Mass Effects favor. Developed by Bioware and supposedly featuring 1000's of places to visit in outer space, the game has story-heavy elements that rely on a new interactive system for players to utilize. I dont know the technical details, yet.

Nonetheless, the gameplay footage video of Mass Effect will be available online at Games.MTV.com, following the premiere of The G-Hole at 8 p.m.

Moyer speech:

This is an excerpt from the Sol Feinstone Lecture on The Meaning of Freedom delivered by Bill Moyers at the United States Military Academy on November 15, 2006.

Thank you for this opportunity. You are a very special audience, one of the most important I have ever addressed, and also one of the hardest. Many of you will be heading for Iraq. I have never been a soldier myself, never been tested under fire, never faced hard choices between duty and feeling, or duty and conscience, under deadly circumstances. I will never know if I have the courage to be shot at, or to shoot back, or the discipline to do my duty knowing the people who dispatched me to kill or be killed had no idea of the moral abyss into which they were plunging me.

I have tried to learn about war from those who know it best: veterans, the real experts.

Phantasy Star Universe expands wider this weekend

Remember when it was hinted at that Phantasy Star Universe (360, PC, and PS2) was going to get new downloadable content? Well, the date is set. Thanksgiving weekend is coming up. Do you know where your family is? If you're the type of person who'd rather say that their family is in another universe, then listen up.

PSU just got bigger. Now you can enjoy more hours with your friends online and take a crack at some new content. While your mom (your real mom in the real world, that is) takes out the turkey from the oven for dinner, Sega of America is serving up eight, yes EIGHT, new missions for you guys during the long weekend.

One of which is Moatoob. Even though this area is already accessible in single player, it's going to be opened up for multiplayer. See? It's all about family this weekend! Also, just in case those big baddies from Moatoob are beating you badly into a pulp, the download will also open up the Tenora Weapon counter and new upgrades will now be available.

Mass Effect gameplay trailer

BioWare has released a new trailer for Mass Effect, their upcoming Xbox 360 Sci-Fi RPG. The trailer shows you in-game fighting - not rendered, not taken from external cameras, but truly in-game like you will experience the game once it's released.

As the first human Specter sworn defenders of galactic peace your mission is to halt the advancing armies of a legendary agent gone rogue. But as you lead your elite team across hostile alien worlds, you will discover the true threat is far greater than anyone imagined.

Mass Effect is planned to be released as a trilogy.

Mass Effect Interview

In a sea of titles that invade retail each year, how many of them become the glittering white foam on that perfect wave? (Experiment with substances much? -Ed) Even to this day, we can find but a handful of titles that managed to stretch beyond some of the restrictions of our favorite pastime (mostly its immaturity and catering to the mainstream audience - as the demographics "wizards" see it). As it so happens, a lot of these games were developed by Bioware.

A win or two could turn tide for bird-flippin' Vick

Some Toronto hockey fans used to boo Wayne Gretzky when he came to play at the old Maple Leaf Gardens. Just because. It may even have been some sort of warped form of tribute.

They booed one of their own, defenceman Larry Murphy, out of town ... on his way to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Aki Berg? Kelly Gruber? Vince Carter? They and many more have felt the barb of the home fans, too, on occasion, deserved or not. Nowhere on the back of the high-priced tickets does it state: Thou shalt not vent vocal disapproval of the home side.

There are limits, though. You risk being ejected if you go too far. On the flipside, when athletes behave aggressively toward fans, the bar is set much lower, the penalties are much higher.

Michael Vick, the talented but perpetually (so his critics say, anyway) underachieving Atlanta Falcons quarterback, responded to home fan razzing by giving them the finger, that near-universal crude-rude-dude signal of contempt.
