Wii Virtual Console: Here Comes Pac-Man, Followed By Ninjas

Another week, another Wii Virtual Console update. Three more games have arrived on the Wii Shop Channel: Pac-Man (500 Wii Points), Ninja Gaiden (500 Wii Points) and Ninja Spirit (600 Wii Points). .

In an ironic twist, the new pack makes it rather clear that sometimes even legends have to be left alone. While the two Ninja games might prove to be quite challenging, Pac-Man is a rather dull addition, as it has no real enhancements to make it worth the money. It's just the same old game, now arriving on Wii. It raises the same question as does Microsoft's latest offer ion the Xbox Live Arcade – Soltrio Solitaire: why spend money on it when I can play it already for free?Anyway, here are the description of the games: - Pac-Man (NES, 1-2 players): Move Pac-Man through the maze, avoiding ghosts and eating all the Pac-Dots.

Ninja Gaiden, TMNT II hitting the Wii VC

Once again, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) spills the beans on the upcoming video game titles. This time it is about some retro games that will soon hit Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. The games in question are, Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden and Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game.

Ninja Gaiden was first released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was known as Shadow Warriors in Europe and Australia. A Nintendo DS version known as Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is also being developed. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game was also launched in 1989 and was later ported to the NES and the Atari ST in 1991. A newer version of the game was released some time back on the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA).

Though the games are listed on the ESRB list, it does not necessarily mean they will be released.

DS Thrives At Tecmo Nite Out

Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki talked about Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, saying that the development went all out for the franchise's first portable title, and that there's almost a completely new graphics board in the Game Card. The game takes place almost immediately after the events of the Xbox Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black, or the PS3's Ninja Gaiden Sigma, depending on which one you've played. Itagaki demonstrated the game for the audience, the same area that he showed during the original unveiling, and announced that the game would be released in Fall 2007.

Tecmo also announced Kyotaro Nishimura Suspense, an adventure game, which was compared to Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk. The game's story was based on the mystery novels of Japanese author Kyotaro Nishimura, and is slated for a fall release.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Taps its Way onto Nintendo DS (Video)

When it comes to titles for the Nintendo DS, some make great use of the touchscreen whereas others seem to use the touchscreen as a tacked on gimmick. It's unclear whether Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword fits into the first or second category, but considering that you get to jump around, slash with a big ass sword, and throw ninja stars, it can't be all that bad. Actually, it looks like quite a bit of fun. With Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the Nintendo DS, you hold the portable gaming machine sideways like a book. The left screen is typically used for maps and such, whereas the actual gameplay takes place on the right screen. All controls are mapped to the touchscreen, so conventional gamers may take some time to familiarize themselves. Clearly, the graphics are nowhere near what is available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but Tecmo has still done a reasonable job keeping things looking pretty.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma gone gold!

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the PlayStation 3-remake of the Xbox-classic Ninja Gaiden. Not only the graphics will be completely renewed (that's only natural), but there will be new weapons, moves, a new character and more available. The game went gold a few hours ago, which means the final version is ready for massproduction and we can buy it in the near future. After a release in Japan on 14th June and America on 4th July it's Europe's turn, "somewhere during the summer".

Virtual Consolation Prize: Of Dots and Ninjas

To get in the proper mood for this week's releases on the Virtual Console, first go watch this. Yes, at one time in this fine nation's history, we were in the grips of Pac-Man fever. There was a cereal, there was a song, there was a cartoon, and there was, of course, an NES version of the game which you may now own for the low, low price of 500 Wii points.

Retro Roundup: Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man, Gauntlet II

Everyone knows that Nintendo totally hates piracy, and this week they prove it with a ninja-heavy Virtual Console update. You know. The ninja -- the natural enemy of the pirate.

They say two out of three ain't bad. And they're right! In fact, this week two out of three are quite good indeed.

Ninja Gaiden Tecmo | Action | 1989 | 500 Points

By way of apology for last week's painfully lame Tecmo arcade port Mighty Bomb Jack, this week we receive the painfully awesome Tecmo arcade port Ninja Gaiden. Er, well, "arcade port" is a bit of a stretch, but while this NES adventure has little to do with the boring beat-em-up by the same name, it's nevertheless totally great.

Please be warned, though: This game exists to humble you.
