Metal Gear Solid 4 delayed until 2008?

Arguably the game that the PlayStation was made for and certainly the most eagerly-awaited game for the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has apparently had it's release date pushed back to next year. Reports allegedly from major US games retailer EB Games have now indicated a March 2008 release.

That claim comes from a posting on insider gaming news source Gameswank (no, really) suggesting that supporters of Solid Snake who signed on for updates on the progress of Konami's top title recently received an email notifying them that the release date had slipped from September 2007 to March 2008.

The email, which originally appeared on the PS3 Forums bulletin board, went:

Dear Customer,

You have signed up to receive release date changes for:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Old Release Date - 9/1/2007 New Release Date - 3/1/2008

NOTE: The product release date is the best estimate as to when the product will become available.

Medal of Honor: Airborne Release Date

Electronic Arts sent out a memo a little while ago announcing that they've pinned a release date for Medal of Honor: Airborne. EA says that the game will ship out late-Summer on August 28th, 2007. EA hopes to change the face of World War II first-person shooters by giving the MOH series an all new sense of freedom, and the ability to pilot aircrafts anywhere they choose to. All three versions of the game, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, will launch simultaneously.

&nbsp Medal of Honor Airborne is a new direction for the franchise introducing innovations that redefine the series as well as impact the FPS genre as a whole," explained Neil Young, VP and General Manager at EALA. We cant wait for August when everyone can experience the new Medal of Honor, the first WWII game that allows the player to land anywhere and truly fight the way they want to.

MGS 4 Wont be Compromised for 360s Sake

While not ruling out the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 4 turning up on Xbox 360, Ryan Payton of Kojima Productions has allayed Metal Gear fans fears that the titles ambition might be compromised if the game was being developed with a 360 port in mind. Speaking on his Kojima Production Report podcast, Payton said that the game was being built exclusively on PS3 hardware to the specifications Hideo Kojima planned from the beginning. It was inferred that no special allowances were being made in anticipation of a 360 version of the game, which would have to fit onto discs with a smaller capacity than the Blu-ray discs used for PS3 games. "I can tell you honestly at this point, we have not changed the game in any form with the idea of 'oh, we got to do this on 360.' Put aside whether or not we're developing for 360 or not, the game is built on the PS3 hardware, as you guys have known for the past two years or so." Paytons comments come in the wake of rumors resurfacing this week that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be the next in a growing list of once PS3 exclusives to go multiplatform.

Medal of Honor to go airbourne

Electronic Arts announced that 'Medal of Honor Airborne', the newest installment from their critically-acclaimed 'Medal of Honor' franchise, will be released in Europe on August 31 this year.

The franchise has been credited with revolutionising the first-person-shooter (FPS) genre, and the developers of this latest title hope that it will redefine the series, introducing gamers to a new type of WWII FPS and allowing them to have a fully interactive airbourne experience.

"'Medal of Honor Airborne' is a new direction for the franchise introducing innovations that redefine the series as well as impact the FPS genre as a whole," explained Neil Young, VP and General Manager at EALA. "We can't wait for August when everyone can experience the new 'Medal of Honor', the first WWII game that allows the player to land anywhere and truly fight the way they want to."

'Medal of Honor Airborne' will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Folklore Playstation 3 Details and Screenshots

Not too much has been released regarding Folklore 3 from Sony Computer Entertainment. What is known is that so far it looks to be a single-player adventure for the PS3, and the screenshots and trailer look pretty awesome. According to the SCE website, this is the basic storyline of the game:

"Two strangers are drawn to the mysterious town of Doolin, where it is said that the living can speak to the dead. They soon learn the town serves as a gateway to fantastic worlds that exist beyond our own, realms full of creatures, fairies, spirits, and monsters. In order to solve the mystery of the town, the pair must journey through these worlds to discover their secrets. Will they have the courage to survive the adventure that awaits them?"

It is scheduled for release in October 2007, so more details and press releases should start to trickle out soon.
