Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Xbox360 Live Arcade)

Alright, let's get down to it. Lately, the Xbox Live Arcade hasn't really been up to snuff when it comes to delivering quality games. For example, everyone was psyched when Street Fighter II was announced, and it turned out to be a pretty big letdown. Not too long after that, the godfather of first-person shooters came out, Doom. Though it was well received by old-school gamers, it really didn't hold up. Pac-man and Dig-Dug also hopped on board...seriously, we're supposed to be amped about getting a single game from the 1980's a week? Out comes Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to save the day. Every fan of the series was ready for this, but with the recent past of XBLA releases, does this classic have what it takes to pull the Arcade out of the slump? For those who have never had the opportunity to play the game, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is basically a remixed version of the original MK3.

Arum gets one over Oscar, sign Pac-Man

At the post-fight press conference for Manny Pacquiao's crushing three round win over hero Erik Morales, a beaming Bob Arum announced that the victor has signed a four-year promotional deal with his company, Top Rank. Arum said: "Top Rank is pleased to announce that Top Rank and MP Promotions have signed a contract to promote Manny Pacquiao's fights for the next four years." This all came as something of a surprise, as Arum's bitter rival Oscar De La Hoya had previously trumpeted a $multi-million deal with 'the Pac-Man'. However, Arum said that the contract for the third Morales fight stopped Pacquiao from signing any deal with any promoter until after the fight, rendering the Golden Boy Promotions contract void. He said: "Manny was under contract not to sign with any other promoter. His lawyers advised him after he signed with Golden Boy.

'Pac-Man' kart game fueled by borrowed ideas

Kart racing games seem to be a rite of passage for any video game series. It's like you can't call your favorite characters "classic" until they've had their own mascot racing game.

Now Namco Bandai Games pipes up with a "me too" for one of the oldest and most iconic characters in video games, Pac-Man.

There is a total of 14 characters in "Pac-Man World Rally," three of which are unlockable by winning the different race circuits. The whole Pac-Man family (that's Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man) is here, plus the multicolored ghosts of the original arcade game and some obscure characters from latter-day "Pac-Man" games (Toc-Man, Spooky and Erwin).

In typical kart racing fashion, Pac-Man and pals speed around fantasy-themed tracks in super-deformed vehicles ranging from scooters to tanks.

Pac-Man v Morales III delivers numbers

The memorable thrill-ogy between super-featherweight warriors Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales climaxed with over 350,000 pay-per-view buys generating over £17.5 million in revenue, HBO has announced. Add the November 18 figures generated by Pac-Man's brutal three-round blast out of Mexican icon Morales to the first two epics, which took place in January 2006 and March 2005, and the rivalry has engendered over 1million PPV buys and an astonishing $49.5million in revenue. Even though 10,000 less homes bought the third fight compared to the second, a $5 hike in price to $49.95 ensured that Pacquiao v Morales III was the highest grossing PPV ever in the lighter weight divisions. And the rivalry between the two icons is one of the reasons that 2006 has been the second best ever year for HBO PPV - with totals of $3.7million for a $177million in revenue - trailing only the bonanza of 1999 since HBO got into the PPV business in 1991.

Pac Man finishes trilogy with a bang

LAS VEGAS -- Many expected the third bout between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales to be the fight of the year. Instead, Pacquiao administered a brutal assault on Morales as he stormed to a third-round knockout in their junior lightweight showdown Saturday night to put an exclamation point on their trilogy and leave Morales' future in doubt.
