Geometry Wars: Galaxies coming to Nintendo Wii, DS

May 22, 2007 Geometry Wars first appeared as a mini-game in Project Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox, and much to the surprise of the developers, people loved it - enough to warrant a HD sequel on the Xbox 360. Geometry Wars: Evolved was the first game released on Xbox Live Arcade, and to this day remains the cheapest, and arguably, best game available on the service. Finally, Nintendo fans are set for a taste of the hellishly frantic action.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies will be developed by Kuju Entertainment, who are best known for their Gamecube hit Battalion Wars, so we'd say the project is in safe hands. We'll be interested to see how the dual-analog controls translate to the Wii remote, and particularly the DS touch-screen, and even more interested to check out the new multiplayer mode.

The company stressed out that the Wireless Racing Wheel supports true force feedback and "will have gamers feeling every bump in the road and every jolt of acceleration as they take the corners on 12 of the most renowned tracks on the globe".Forza Motorsport 2 has been developed Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, a team also involved in the development of "Forza Motorsport," "Project Gotham Racing" and "RalliSport Challenge". PGR4 Xbox 360 Details Revealed

Late last week, Microsoft spilled the beans on some of the features we should expect from Project Gotham Racing 4 this fall on Xbox 360. Highlights from the press release included:

Bizarre Creations wants to create "an emotionally-charged racing experience" by enhancing the career mode, profiles, and vehicles so players feel more attached to them. The new career mode will include a fanbase that grows as the player improves his or her skill and performance. The game will feature a dynamic weather system, so rain storms or snow flurries popping up in the middle of a race will not be uncommon. This will of course result in different race physics being in play in each of the game's 12 locations.Drivers passing opponents will pump their fists and show more emotion, to go along with a revised Kudos system that will work together with new A.I.

Sega Rocks The Club

Sega announced today that Richard Jacques has been hired to score the single player experience in The Club. Notable composers Chris Chudley and Jesper Kyd will also be on board, creating the music for the multiplayer levels and main theme, respectively. The Club is a product of Bizarre Creations, which is probably best known for the Project Gotham Racing series.

"I am delighted to be working with Sega and Bizarre Creations once again," said Richard Jacques. "Having previously worked on the music and sound design of the genre defining Metropolis Street Racer, I was extremely pleased to be chosen to provide tracks for The Club. Sega and Bizarre Creations have a sure fire hit on their hands and it's great to be a part of it."

The Club will release on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in late 2007.

Three top musos to score The Club for Bizarre Creations

Sega has revealed some of the musical secrets behind the world's most deadliest organisation, The Club. A fast-paced take on third-person shooters, The Club is being developed by Bizarre Creations, the esteemed indie British developer responsible for the Project Gotham Racing series and the addictive arcade smash hits Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Boom Boom Rocket.

Award winning, classically trained composer and long time Sega favourite Richard Jacques has been commissioned to score the music throughout the single-player campaign. Alongside Richard's music are tracks from Chris Chudley for the multiplayer levels and a main theme composed by Jesper Kyd.

Having worked with both Sega and Bizarre Creations on the series' critically acclaimed original, Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast, Jacques jumped at the chance to team up once again and provide some "good old thumping beats to match the fast pace, high intensity, run and gun gameplay of The Club."

With a glowing career in the games industry, Richard Jacques has worked his way from in-house musician at Sega Europe right through to becoming one of the most sought after musicians the industry has seen.

Are Xbox 360 And PS3 Games Really Next-Gen?

Many of us in the media have taken time out to label every single Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game as next-gen. We say the graphics havent been done before and that the gameplay is unmatched with anything else on the market. But are these games really....really the evolution and next-generation from past games? It almost doesn't seem like it.

This question came hard and heavy, though, when PS3 fanboys started bashing the Xbox 360's Gears of War. I have to admit, apart from all vertices being completely concealed from the human eye, due to an amazing amount of polygons put into the beautiful character models, there wasnt a lot of weight behind Gears of War gameplay. Yes the shooting was solid and the story was an apocalyptic masterpiece, but what did it do gameplay wise that we havent already seen before? Is next-gen really only applicable to beefed up resolutions and character designs that look like real-life plastic?

Next-gen became even more allusive to its use when applied to Resistance: Fall of Man.
