Nintendo DS Tomb Raider Legend clip

Human Soft, the developer charged with porting Tomb Raider Legend to the Nintendo DS and GBA platform, has released spanking new footage of Lara Croft in action and she trapezes the globe in search of a legendary artifact of such immense power it could threaten humanity's very existence. Eidos confirmed earlier today that Tomb Raider Legend for the Nintendo DS, Game Cube and GBA will ship across North America on November 14th and assured fans the handheld versions will faithfully capture the detail and breadth of Tomb Raider Legend for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox video-game console. Having originally launched in 1996, Tomb Raider remains one of the best selling videogame franchises of all time, with over 30 million copies sold and the title continues its legacy of compelling, high-end gaming by porting to a new generation of mobile gamers.

Brazilians Will Pay $1400 For the Xbox 360

Kotaku reader Marcelo turned us on to this Reuters piece, detailing the upcoming Brazilian launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360. What I thought was going to be a run of the mill launch in a territory that no one cares about... oops, I mean is largely ignored... turned out to be an eye-opening bit of news.

Microsoft will be the first manufacturer to sell direct to the market in Brazil, where importers reign supreme. But this privelege will come at a price: 2999 reias, which currently exchanges at $1400 US. That's a lot of reias! Tough to swallow, as importers will bring a 360 to you for close to half that price.

The premium console package will be bundled with a few games, Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo: Elements of Power, which makes the steel-booted kick in the wallet a little easier (games retail for close to $75).

Cliff dives just don't match slo-mo crashes

When the Xbox 360 came out last year, two of the three best launch titles had gamers behind the wheel of a speeding automobile. Project Gotham Racing 3 featured better visuals than any other game at the time, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted represented an adrenaline-pounding peak for the reliable franchise.

Need for Speed: Carbon is solid, but it's a small disappointment for gamers who were hoping for a showcase driving title for the PS3. The cars handle well and the online options are plentiful, but there isn't a lot of new or exciting content in the game.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted was perfect escapist entertainment, bringing the series to new levels of lawlessness. Along with driving mechanics in the game that were excellent, almost every challenge featured a "Blues Brothers"-style police chase.
