(GRVY | charts | news | PowerRating), a South Korea-based online game developer and publisher, revealed that it entered into licensing agreements for its online game, Ragnarok Online 2 or RO2, in Japan and Thailand, following the Memorandum of Understanding or MOUs that it entered into with various licensees in each country in August 2006.

The company said that the agreement was entered into with GungHo Online Entertainment in Japan on September 29, 2006 and with Asiasoft Corp. in Thailand on September 22, 2006 effective from the commercial service date of the game. The company expects to earn US$23 million or more in license fees and minimum guaranteed payments during the first two to three years from the date of commencement of commercial services in these two markets.

Thai Expo began on Wednesday at the Village Market in Nairobi, offering Kenyans an opportunity to interact with Thai businessmen, traders and suppliers.

Pangya Season 2 Set For Philippine Release In December

Manila, Philippines (AHN) - The local publisher of online fantasy golf game "Pangya" has announced the December release of Season 2 in the Philippines, a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer says.

Jane Walker, chief executive officer of Level Up! Philippines, said the game has a huge following with over 100,000 people playing "Pangya" online each day.

The Level Up! executive said casual games like "Pangya" is attracting more followers than games like "Ragnarok" which attracts mostly dedicated gamers. But she said the company will still continue developing its subscription-based online games.

She told the PDI, "Role playing games are still growing since we believe that casual gamers eventually graduate to hardcore gaming."

Although she said marketing online games in the Philippines is facing challenges especially from parents and teachers who have been complaining about the popularity of internet games.
