To the throne room! Dark Age of Camelot's chapter quest tests

So, now that Dark Ages of Camelot's "Show Me the Mino-Relics" event is over and done with, how's everyone doing? A little peachy, aren't we? Well now, you can't just go about raiding here and there and everywhere all the time, no can you? You'd want something interesting to pop up from time to time.

Good thing Missy Hatch is up to the task once again, and so should you. She's setting up another event for all you lucky little beta-boys and -girls to participate in.

We'd like to get some groups from each realm together on Thursday 11/09/06 and Friday 11/10/06 to test the Labyrinth of the Minotaur chapter quests, Chapters Two and Three, for general quest bugs and playability. Those who can make it, meet at 7pm EST outside of each realm's Throne Room. Leading the event will be: MythicCL, MythicBrendan, MythicChristian, and MythicMatt.

'City of Heroes' - Free Expansion #8 Goes Live

Issue 8: "To Protect and Serve" delivers a host of new features starting out with a wide-variety of veteran rewards for players who have had a City of Heroes or City of Villains account for three months or more. The rewards are given in increments of three months of active play, and include special powers, base items, badges and costume pieces such as wings. The veteran rewards program is retroactive by player account and rewards will be applicable to all characters within each respective account.

Building on the tradition of super-powered crime fighting, Issue 8 is introducing Safeguard Missions where heroes will be given a limited time to halt major crimes being committed by super-powered villains and their henchmen. Using the new police band contacts, heroes will be alerted to attacks on Paragon City business, resulting in high-intensity action as players battle to prevent heists and city destruction from occurring.

Ryzom Ring: Miller clears up Ring Reward Points rumors

Alright, a lot of you Ryzom Ring users have apparently been hounding the net and the Saga of Ryzom forums for more info on the RRP (Ring Reward Points) system and how it works.

So, Daniel Miller, the producer of Nevrax's Ryzom Ring, decided to clear up the issue once and for all by answering ALL the questions you guys posted on their boards (well, not ALL, but rather all RRP-related ones).

First off, Miller says that the system is time-based, so even if you hack and slash like there's no tomorrow, that won't earn you more points than, say, a leisurely scripted adventure.

Miller goes on to discuss the system's concept of "activity" - which basically means that "as long as you're doing something that requires you to be behind your keyboard and interacting with the game we can consider that you're active, and as long as you're active you'll gain reward points at regular intervals." Let's see, what else did he discuss? Ah!

Levels of Reward Points: There are six different classes of reward points.

Nevrax Studios Goes Under

As reported by Ryzom WarCry, Nevrax Studios--maker of Ryzom and Ryzom Ring--has announced that it will shortly cease to exist as a corporate entity. Negotiations are under way with companies interested in taking up Ryzom's reins, though representatives of Nevrax have said that they will continue to keep Ryzom operational, with some features such as account upgrades disabled during the transition period.

A group of former Nevrax employees have started a "Free Ryzom" campaign, aimed at purchasing the rights to the code and servers of Ryzom, making it Open Source and running it themselves (as reported here).

Thanks to Zie for covering this.

Nevrax goes into receivership ( News )

The developer of the MMO Saga of Ryzom, Nevrax, will go into receivership in December, but officials from the company are confident the game will continue to be supported.

The French developer recently launched an expansion pack, Ryzom Ring, enabling players to develop their own content for the MMO.

"While the game will continue to run and be supported, Nevrax (as a corporate entity) will be going into receivership next month," said a statement from the company.

Nevrax Shutting Shop - Ryzom Future Still Bright ? [ News ]

The French publisher behind the niche MMO calls it a day, but there could be light at the end of the tunnel... Author: Chris Leyton | Date Added: 21/11/2006

Whenever the term "transition" is mentioned it generally only means one thing, times of hardship. Manchester United used the phrase consistently during the last two years as it struggled to match Chelsea's dominance, and now it seems the beleaguered French developer/publisher, Nevrax, is making heavy use in a recent statement about its future and that of Ryzom. In the statement, Nevrax confirms that as a corporate entity it will be entering into receivership next month, though it insists that this does not mean the end of support to its MMO - using an overly clichd and somewhat hopeful proclamation, "...this is not the beginning of the end - just the end of the beginning."With the earlier release of The Ryzom Ring expansion pack, Nevrax put creative powers in the hands of the players, presumably in an attempt to keep the game going when troubles first appeared on the horizon.

Nevrax in hot water?

French developer/publisher Nevrax is undergoing a period of 'transition'. TVG reports that, as a coporate entity, it will be entering into receivership next month.

However, this does not mean players should cease support of its MMORPG 'The Ryzom Ring'

According to TVG: "With the earlier release of 'The Ryzom Ring' expansion pack, Nevrax put creative powers in the hands of the players, presumably in an attempt to keep the game going when troubles first appeared on the horizon. Essentially an SDK kit, 'The Ryzom Ring' allows players to create their own environments, missions and scenarios for others to access."

The company has stopped calling for payments from subscribers - offering a free account and one month free access to existing subscribers as well as a Free Trial account for new subscribers with no level cap.

Her er mer fakta: Since the dawn of time, the inhabitants of Nelw have relied on mighty elemental wizards to keep order. But the invention of steam power has overturned this ancient social order. Disillusioned by the introduction of new technology, certain sections of the population have turned instead to the power of nature. Taking advantage of the conflicts tearing apart the factions of nature and science, the forces of darkness lay siege to the magic domains in an attempt to seize power.
