Call of Duty 3 - Review Xbox 360

Although there has been a change of development team and the game takes you through a comparable World War II scenario Call of Duty 3 is easily as good as its predecessor with sound and graphics to die for. Built from the ground-up, Call of Duty 3 takes full advantage of next-generation technology and a new physics engine to deliver a living battlefield where cover is ripped apart by gunfire and explosions; blades of grass are trampled beneath tank treads and soldiers' feet and uniforms wrinkle and fold like real fabric. Battle Actions require players to engage in life-or-death, hand-to-hand combat with enemies, plant explosives and fire mortars, further immersing them into the most authentic WWII experience to date.

Call of Duty 3 takes place near the end of World War II as the allied forces land on Normandy beach.

World of Warcraft profits tumble in China

Revenue generated by World of Warcraft in China is falling as the popular online game ages, despite an increase in players, according to the game's local operator.

China is believed to have more Warcraft players than any other nation, at almost six million registered accounts and as many as 660,000 playing simultaneously.

New data on the game's performance in China was revealed in figures released by The9 Ltd, which operates the game in China under a licensing deal with the US-based developer, Blizzard Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Universal.

Jun Zhu, chairman and chief executive at The9, told analysts last week that Chinese Warcraft enthusiasts paid a total of $29.1m to play over the past three months, a fall of 10 per cent from $32m in the previous quarter.

Springtime for Halo 3 public testing

Microsoft will open up testing of the next Halo release to the general public. An Xbox Live multiplayer public beta of Halo 3 is scheduled to be available in spring 2007, according to Redmond.

Running exclusively on the Xbox 360 - via the Xbox Live multiplayer feature - gamers will be able to play in a pre-release version of Halo 3. According to the game's developers, Bungie Studios, they will help shape the development of Halo 3, with their feedback refining the end result.

Details are still sketchy because Bungie states that it is 'still working out the details on timing and scope'.

'Since its original release, Halo 2 has redefined online play, delivering superior multiplayer capabilities in addition to an incredible social experience, and nurturing a constantly growing community through Xbox Live,' claimed the corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim.
