StarCraft 2: Rumours and Facts

Recent news about a sequel to one of Blizzard's best games have been circulating the internet. I will try to explain in this article what were the steps that lead to this and more. First of all I must confess I am one of the fans of this almost 10 years old game but I will try to be as objective as humanly possible.

The History A look at the history behind the game is needed before attempting to analyze the current events. Blizzard's first Real Time Strategy (RTS) game was Warcraft, a game developed in a fantastic Universe where two different species, Orcs and Humans were fighting for the land of Azeroth. Soon after its release Blizzard started working on another RTS based on the same engine: Starcraft. However things weren't going in the right direction and people were thinking it was too similar to its predecessor, therefore naming it Orcs and Humans in space.

CB Games Beta Diaries: Halo 3 Helps Recreate The Great Zanzibar La ...

One of the things that made Halo 2 such a beloved success on the Xbox was the incredible level of depth possible in customizing the multiplayer options. Thousands of game variations were possible, and fans never stopped coming up with interesting new takes on the Halo formula.

In Halo 2 for example a few game types were actually adopted by Bungie after being created by fans. SWAT and Zombie for instance became so popular, unofficially, that Bungie gave them their official seal of approval. SWAT was a variant that took away players shields and gave them a Battle Rifle to start with. The end result was basically a one show kill process that, when played correctly, was actually more like Rainbow Six than Halo. Zombie on the other hand played exactly like its name and relied more on the honor system than anything else.

Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition For Xbox 360 And PS3

According to a Rockstar press release, on October 16th, if youre willing to pony up the money, you can get Grand Theft Auto IV and a whole lot more if you purchase the special edition that is set to come out on the same day as the regular edition. Retailing for $89.99, the special edition will include never-before-seen artwork, a soundtrack of tunes from top artists, a Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box the game will come packaged in, and a limited edition Rockstar duffle bag.

Coming out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, GTA IV raised quite a stir in the industry a few weeks ago when a mysterious, detail sparse, noncommittal trailer was put up online. Set to take place in Liberty City again, the locale this time around looks more like New York than it ever has before.

MI6 Game Marketing Conference: Burger King’s Excellent Gaming ...

When you think of video games, Burger King doesn't come to mind. But Russ Klein, president of global marketing, strategy and innovation at Burger King, gave a convincing talk that his company "gets it" when it comes to games. Klein delivered the opening keynote at the MI6 game marketing conference in San Francisco on Tuesday. I know, I know, you missed all those Burger King games on the Xbox last season while you played Gears of War. Me too. But hear me out.

Klein ran into Chris DeCesare, director of creative marketing at Microsoft, in the summer of 2005 at a conference in the south of France. Klein talked about how Burger King was reviving its brand with the social marketing campaign behind the "Subservient Chicken," a controversial mascot that wore a garter belt. DeCesare talked about "ilovebees.com," the alternate reality game that preceded the launch of Halo 2.
