Stargate Worlds live long and prosper

If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's to never greet a rabid "Star Wars" fan with a Trekkie's "live long and prosper" hand gesture. Doing that could potentially reduce your chances of living long and prospering. Some people just really glom on to their fandoms. Among all of the fandoms there are in (and out of) this world, space operas have the strongest and most deeply-rooted fanbases.

One such sci-fi space opera is "Stargate". With this, it was only a matter of time before they thought of creating an MMORPG based on this universe. Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is spearheading the project and Stargate Worlds will base it on the "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis" canon, with development already undergoing the final stages of pre-production. Expect to be able to play races such as Humans, Asgard, Symbiotes, Jaffa, and Unas - each having their own factions and classes.

Kashmir not safe for Kashmiri pandits

Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen Supreme Commander Syed Salaha-ud-Din is not the only one to tell Kashmiri pandits not to return to the Valley. Even topmost votaries, on their return to their homes, have veered around to this point of view.

Kashmiri pandits are a witness to a saga of political betrayal by the leadership in Srinagar and Delhi. They were promised a lot, but in return they have got only a shift from tented colonies to one room tenements and a hope of moving further into the two-room tenements, under construction under Prime Minister's package announced in November 2004.

Two years ago when Manmohan Singh declared that they would get two-room tenements in the migrant camps in Jammu region, that was an admission of the fact that the conditions were not conducive for their return to the Valley, and that they would have to stay put in migrant camps.

Champions of the LOTRO universe

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar as we all know, is home to various classes like the Lore-master, the Minstrel, the Captain and so forth. It is needless to say that each class has its own merits and strengths. But if you are the type of player who is all about combat, we highly suggest that you pick the Champion class.

The class was clearly developed by Turbine Inc. with Tolkien's immortal rhymes in mind: "His prowess was such that none in Gondor could stand against him in those weapon-sports in which he delighted, seeming rather a champion than a captain or king." True enough, the Champion focuses on nothing else but destroying enemies.

While the Champions have the ability to use various weapon styles at any given time, this class often find itself in trouble when facing enemies alone.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angma ...

Author John Ronald Reuel Tolkien probably never realized just how far-reaching and long-lived his Lord of the Rings novels would become when he penned them more than 60 years ago. To date, the author's chronicles of the fantasy world of Middle-earth have captured the imaginations of thousands of readers, young and old; have given rise to smash-hit, award-winning motion pictures; and, most importantly, have led to video games that let guys pretend that they're elves. The next electronic game to carry Tolkien's standard will be The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar--a massively multiplayer game from publisher Midway and Asheron's Call developer Turbine Entertainment. We got our hands on the early game experience and also had an opportunity to see some high-level content in action. Note: This preview may contain minor spoilers.
