Tom Clancy's EndWar - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

We sat down with Michael de Plater, Creative Director for EndWar to talk to him about his latest game, the first Tom Clancy RTS, to see what all the fuss is about. EndWar is a current gen title, which, when it was started 3 years ago, was obviously next gen back then. Its a hypothetical, near future game that looks at what World War 3 would be like if the use of nuclear weapons was made redundant... so forces would have to rely on troops fighting a conventional ground and air war. When questioned as to why EndWar is a Tom Clancy game, Michael said that EndWar uses the same level of realism and attention to detail that can be found in Tom Clancy books and other games in the Tom Clancy series, such as Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell. Its that authenticity and attention to detail that the Tom Clancy name brings to a title.

Tom Clancy's EndWar Fully Voice Controlled For PS3 And Xbox 360

Are you totally sick and tired of that goofy control scheme that people have decided is good enough to control a console RTS? I know I am. Im a Tolkien nut and I still couldnt stomach Battle for Middle Earth. Not to mention Command and Conquer 3.

Ubisoft has recently announced that their forthcoming Tom Clancy branded Real Time Strategy game EndWar will be able to be controlled entirely via voice control. In the past voice controlled games havent really panned out so well. There are always problems making sure that the game always understands what the player is saying despite variances in depth and pitch. The good news is that they are also implementing a normal control scheme using the game pad.

EndWar is set in the same conflict ridden world that most of the other Tom Clancy games take place in and the games development team will be similarly populated.

Ninja Gaiden Suited for DS, Not PSP

Tomonobou Itagaki says that a Ninja Gaiden game for PSP would upset his fans. In a recent interview with Gamepro magazine, Itagaki outlined why Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is fit for Nintendos relatively underpowered handheld. The design philosophy for the PSP as a piece of hardware is a home gaming machine--in terms of specs--you can take with you. If we were gonna make it for PSP, it'd be better for us to make it for a powerful home system instead. The DS is designed under the concept of "What should a portable system be?" instead of trying to replicate the home experience. That's what attracted me to developing on the DS because you can really utilize its strengths as a portable platform. I think if I were to develop this game on the PSP, most of my fans would be upset. Team Ninja has been known for graphically beautiful games in the last few years.

Scarface: The World Is Yours Sells Over 2 Million Units

Vivendi announced today that Scarface: The World Is Yours has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide at retail stores. The publisher expect those numbers to increase further as the Wii version is scheduled for release this summer. World Cyber Games 2007 US Finals in June

Midway Reports 2007 Q1 Results

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Midway Games Inc. (NYSE:MWY) today announced results of operations for the three month period ended March 31, 2007. The Company also confirmed its prior full year guidance and provided revenue and earnings guidance for the second quarter ending June 30, 2007.

FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

Net revenues for the 2007 first quarter were $11.1 million, compared to the 2006 first quarter net revenues of $15.4 million and ahead of prior guidance of approximately $7 million. The 2007 first quarter net loss was $19.8 million, or a loss of $0.22 per basic and diluted share, compared with a 2006 first quarter net loss of $22.6 million, or a loss of $0.25 per basic and diluted share.

On a non-GAAP basis, excluding the impact of stock-option expenses and other non-cash items, the 2007 first quarter loss was $18.2 million or $0.20 per basic and diluted share, compared to the Company's previous non-GAAP guidance of a loss of approximately $0.23 per basic and diluted share.

15:11 Mortal Kombat Wii lacks online play (0)

Both the PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox versions of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon featured online play, allowing gamers to battle it out against one another over the Internet. However, Midway has announced that the Wii version will not - and they blame Nintendo.

"Obviously we had online on other platforms so it wasn't going to be a technology challenge for us," said the game's producer, Shaun Himmerick, to advancedmn.com. "Nintendo didn't have their online system ready for us when we would have needed to implement it," he continued.
