Tenchu Z for Xbox 360 Dated

Microsoft has sent word that their Xbox 360 exclusive game, Tenchu Z has gone gold and will hit stores across North America on June 12, 2007. The ninja stealth action game features more than 50 missions set in ancient Japan.

Tenchu Z is set in feudal Japan and reflects the Ninja mythology. Gamers must integrate stealth, sword-based warfare and the skill to make use of an extensive variety of ninja accessories to complete their objectives. The gameplay is based on their actions and takes into account how much noise they make, how visible they are, and even how badly they smell. There is a single player mission as well as co-operative play with two to four players through Xbox Live or system link. They can even create customizable ninjas.

Tenchu Z has been developed by K2.

The Price Is Not Right

All this talk about which console manufacturer is providing the consumer the greatest value is missing the point. The market has already decided how much a gaming system is worth. The answer? Probably not much more than $250.

Let's look at current generation console prices to date, in U.S. dollars. Nintendo's Wii rings up at about $250. Microsoft's Xbox 360's three flavors include the $300 Core pack, the $400 Premium edition, and the $480 Elite. Sony's PlayStation 3 is available in $500 and $600 options. All other things being equal, the Wii's price is obviously the most attractive, which might explain why it's outselling the 360 by about 2-to-1, and the PS3 by about 4-to-1.

But all other things are not equal, of course. Not even close. Any gamer with even passing familiarity with all three systems could expound on their individual hardware strengths and weaknesses.

This Week In Downloads

A new trailer for the upcoming Uncharted: Drake's Fortune arrived this week, along with a downloadable Midway favorite.Joust (SOE, $4.99) -- Although the 360 version wins, thanks to Achievements, the PSN edition holds up well with sound game play, a faithful arcade translation and enough two-player jousting action to kill a horse... or ostrich. RATING: 7 (out of 10)Xbox Live Arcade .

Investigators cite arson in Gamezilla fire

BREWER - A Memorial Day fire that gutted the area's only store offering interconnected, multiplayer video gaming was arson, an investigator said Tuesday.

Nobody was hurt in the fire at 53 North Main St. that was reported about 2:30 a.m. Monday. The building, owned by Ernest J. Scheyder II, housed Gamezilla and tenants in an apartment on the first floor and two upstairs apartments.

All of the tenants escaped the fire uninjured, and the blaze was extinguished before it reached the building's upstairs apartments.

Sgt. Tim York of the State Fire Marshal's Office declined Tuesday to say why investigators believe the fire was set or precisely where it started.

The front windows of Gamezilla were black with smoke residue Tuesday and the smell of smoke still hung in the air, but the brightly painted Superman and Thor on the display window still were caught in midbattle.
